🎄 Do you have guests coming for Christmas?

❄️ Holidays can be a magical time but they can also be very stressful for humans and pets!

🏠 If you’re opening your home to guests this holiday season, please set your pets up for success:

🍪 offer your pets treats when guests arrive to help create a positive association with their presence - if your dog is paying too much attention to guests they can also toss a treat away from them to create distance and give each other space.

🛌 ensure your pet has a crate or bed they can go to and remain undisturbed. Not all pets like interacting with strangers and to ensure safety for all it’s often best that pets be confined to another room to prevent unwanted interactions.

🎶 consider playing music or leaving a tv running in the room to drown out some of the noise that comes from parties or festive fun.

💊 if guests make your pet extremely anxious or even reactive or aggressive, consider talking to your veterinarian about medications for anxiety inducing situations.

🏨 alternatively you could board your pet and have someone else care for them while you enjoy your holiday festivities without having to worry about commotion upsetting your pets at home.
