Cats

Most cats will seek out and consume green plants regularly if available to them. They like the taste and texture.
- Natural Hairball Remedy: Eating grass can help aid in digestion and coughing up hair balls. Eating grass on a regular basis may help

prevent the build-up of hairballs in their stomach and help cats have more regular gastrointestinal tracts, fewer hair balls, and less constipation. Plus the chlorophyll in grass helps keep a cat’s breath fresh!
- Digestion: Even cats who are on a healthy diet can benefit by speeding up the digestion process due to fiber. If your cat is eating a lot of grass, they may be lacking a sufficient amount of fiber in their diet.
- Inducing Vomiting: Cats who have eaten something which disagrees with them may eat cat grass to bring on vomiting to eliminate toxins and settle their stomach. Vomiting will not be sufficient to treat a significant toxic event. Dogs

Dogs eating grass is fairly common and completely natural. Dogs need roughage in their diets and grass provides a good source of fiber. Dogs eat grass because it tastes nice and they like the texture, particularly when it’s green and fresh. It improves digestion, and may fulfill some nutritional needs. It is not uncommon for cats/dogs to spit up a few strands of grass and saliva after eating. CAUTION: If your pet is repeatedly vomiting and/or not eating its normal food, consult your vet. - Can be kept indoors or outdoors. Outdoors, keep it in a shaded area during the hottest part of the day. Indoors, place it near a window where it will get plenty of light but not direct sun. Too much direct sun can dry out the growing medium too fast, and kill the plants.
- You can keep it under artificial light if you don’t have adequate indirect lighting. But you typically shouldn’t have to do this.
- Keep it moist but not flooded. Water as needed, daily or twice a day. Frequency depends on humidity, temperature and wind or breeze. Check the drip pan to see if there’s water at the roots. The growing medium does not hold a large amount of water as soil would.
- Tap water is fine, but do not use water from a water softener.
- Snacky Grass should last between one to three weeks, depending on lighting, watering, and harvesting patterns. Two weeks is typical. Harvesting and Feeding Methods

- The easiest way is to place Snacky Grass tray in a drip pan and place it on the floor where pets can reach the live plant.
- Alternatively: Harvest with a scissors or sharp knife, cut just above the roots and feed it to your pet. The first cutting is the most nutritious, regrowth can be used but will not be as nutritious nor as pretty. Two cuttings is the limit, before it will die out.
- Know that some regurgitation is okay. It is not uncommon for cats to spit up a few strands of grass and saliva after eating.
- Don't worry if your pet eats the roots, too -- they're also nutritious and tasty. Multiple-pet households can be assured that organically grown Snacky Grass is a safe addition to the home, free of harmful pesticides, insects, slugs and snails. Grass, roots, and growing medium are all fully compostable. Snacky Grass is a home-based business located in Harlingen, Texas. We do not have a store-front.
