Just recently got a flyer from Patriot Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Chandler in the mail with 'scratch-n-win' type of 'match the numbers' to win a prize on the front. However, it's very deceptive in that, by all appearances, a person wins the prize if the scratch-off numbers under that particular prize match the scratch-off numbers in the "Prize Vault." But, if you take the time to read the fine print on the back, then you'll find - buried in the middle of the paragraph - a phrase that reads, "matching symbols are not associated with a specific prize." Thus, you haven't actually won any prize; you've only won the opportunity (i.e. 1 out of many thousands) to win a prize if you come to the dealership and talk to a salesperson. I will not do business with anyone or any business that stoops to deception to try and 'trick' me into doing business with them. Caveat emptor, Latin, "Let the buyer beware." Always read the fine print, never 'jump' to a conclusion. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

About Southern Star

In the early 1980s, we saw our first Akbash Dog at a dog show and immediately fell in love with the breed. After extensive research, we contacted David & Judy Nelson, the couple responsible for bringing the Akbash Dog to America, and purchased a female puppy. For the remainder of the 80s and into the 90s, we showed Akbash Dogs.

In the early 1990s, we added Alpine Dairy Goats which gave our Akbash Dogs the opportunity to do what they were born to do -- protect livestock -- and we stopped showing. Over the years, the livestock changed from dairy goats to Barbados Sheep. The main predators in our area of Texas were big cats and coyotes, and though they were excellent predators, we never lost any of our livestock thanks to our Akbash Dogs.

In 2008, we moved to a larger, rural acreage in Oklahoma and purchased Spanish meat goats. Today, we have purebred Kiko meat goats, purebred and percentage Boer meat goats, and two Alpine/Nubian dairy goats, all of which are faithfully protected by our Akbash Dogs.
