A unbelievable honor to be affiliated with a horse like Call Me Goo! The road to her ultimate Breeders Crown victory with co-owners Svanstedt Stable was nothing short of amazing for a Maryland bred horse and “smaller stable” Delaware trainer. We are so thankful to have trained her for four years and even more excited to have trained her for the victory sealing her O’Brien nomination!

TOMORROW (THURSDAY, DECEMBER 19) IS THE DEADLINE TO NOMINATE A GROOM FOR CARETAKER OF THE YEAR, SPONSORED BY THE DELAWARE VALLEY/US HARNESS WRITERS ASSOCIATION! DON'T WAIT! NOMINATE THAT SPECIAL GROOM TODAY!
-------------------------------------------------
HARRINGTON, DE - The Delaware Valley Chapter of the United States Harness Writers Association is currently accepting nominations for its fifth annual Caretaker of the Year award.
The award is designed to recognize a caretaker/groom who works primarily in Delaware, Maryland, or Virginia, for a trainer in good standing. He/she must have a current groom’s license in one of those states and cannot currently be training horses. To nominate a caretaker/groom for this award, trainers are required to submit a nomination letter (200 word minimum) explaining why a caretaker/groom from your stable deserves the award. Suggested areas of emphasis include punctuality, reliability and initiative. Nominators are asked to include the groom’s name, address and phone number, along with your name and phone number.
Caretakers/grooms are often the unsung heroes of the sport and this award memorializes their dedication. The deadline for nominations is Dec. 19. All nominations should be submitted via email to [email protected]
The winner will receive a $250 award courtesy of the Delaware Valley Chapter of USHWA at the annual Delaware Standardbred Owners Association banquet on January 17.

Lady Burg presses, prevails in DSBF trot final
(from the Delaware Standardbred Breeders' Fund/Fotowon photo)
DOVER, Del. — Thanks to patient early handling from driver Pat Berry, Lady Burg sustained an uncovered grind through the middle half to put away Song Master and had enough left to withstand late pressure from Kat's Fancy to win Monday's (Nov. 25) $110,000 Marv Bachrad Memorial at Bally's Dover, sealing top honors in the Delaware Standardbred Breeders' Fund (DSBF) series for 2-year-old trotting fillies.
Lady Burg was unhurried at race's outset, settling second-over on the opening turn behind 30-1 long shot Song Master (driven by Carlo Poliseno), who vaulted to the lead from post seven and cleared Royal Toni (Kim Vincent) for control at the end of a :28.2 first quarter. Uncovered with a lap to go, Lady Burg advanced on the outside to engage the pacesetter through a :57.4 half before pushing to the lead midway up the backstretch. After doing away with Song Master, the E L Platinum-Comical Dream filly faced immediate pressure from eventual runner-up Kat's Fancy (Cody Poliseno), who made a mild bid past three-quarters in 1:28.3. Lady Burg rebuffed Kat's Fancy's challenge by 1-1/2 lengths, winning in a lifetime best 2:00. Indiana Star (Tony Morgan) rallied mildly for third.
Lady Burg, who competes as a homebred for J. Craparotta & P. Berry Racing and is trained by Traci Berry, has now won four of her seven career starts and banked $94,150. As the even-money favorite, she paid $4.20 to win.
Rookie male trotters contest their $110,000 DSBF series championship Tuesday (Nov. 26), with Melvin G installed as the 2-5 morning line favorite. That event is programmed as the fourth of 15 races on the card; first post is 4:30 p.m. EST.
