📢Cat Food Recall Alert:📢 Northwest Naturals Turkey Cat Food has been recalled due to concern for H5N1 Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza contamination. One cat has reportedly died from consuming this food which has been distributed in Pennsylvania. We have known since March of this year that cats can contract this flu strain and it appears that it has been primarily (if not exclusively) been through consuming raw/unpasteurized milk from affected dairy cows or consuming raw/contaminated meat.

🦠🦠🦠Blue Mountain Veterinary Care has always highly discouraged feeding any raw protein products including freeze-dried raw food, toppers and treats due to high risk for contaminations like these. 🦠🦠🦠

Since the U.S. outbreak of avian influenza A (H5N1) in dairy cattle began in March 2024, dozens of cats are known to have contracted the virus, including barn and feral cats, indoor cats, and big cats in zoos and in the wild (e.g., mountain lions, tigers, leopards, and bobcats).

It's Veterinary Technician Appreciation Week and we want to recognize our hard-working, skilled, caring and dedicated technicians. Technicians are the ones comforting them, holding them and talking to them during treatments and procedures. They clean up their many messes and give them snacks. They are phlebotomists, xray technicians, anesthesia monitors, pharmacy technicians, wellness care experts and so much more. They treat your pets like they are their own and they often get overlooked for all they do. Please join us in giving them a big THANK YOU this week and always!

We are hiring a Veterinary Technician with small animal general practice experience to assist with appointments, patient care and client communication. Our brand new facility has a full in-house laboratory, digital x-rays, a sterile surgical suite, a dental suite including digital dental x-rays and a comfortable break room. Our mission is to provide high quality personalized preventative and curative medicine to our patients because we treasure the human-animal bond. Our ideal candidate would be a team player with a positive attitude, a sense of humor and commitment to high quality medicine and low-stress visits for our patients.
