Dear Customers,
When you call with medication refills and written prescription requests, please be aware that it may take 1-2 business days to process those requests. We will contact you via your preferred contact method when they are ready.
(For those of you who want to understand why... the request is sent to the doctors who look at them in between appointments and procedures. Then, our technical staff fulfills the requests and a second team member double-checks them to make sure there are no errors. It is important that we have enough time to complete this process for the safety of your pets!)

🐾 Halloween Safety Tips for Your Pets! 🐾
Halloween is fun for us—but it can be spooky for our furry friends! Keep your dogs and cats safe and stress-free this holiday with these simple tips:

🕯️ Keep candy out of reach. Chocolate and xylitol (found in sugar-free treats) are toxic to pets.

🎭 Costumes optional! Only dress up your pet if they’re comfortable. Avoid tight, itchy, or restrictive outfits.

🚪 Watch the door. Trick-or-treaters coming and going can scare pets or give them a chance to slip out. Keep them in a quiet room during peak hours.

🎆 Skip the decorations that tempt. Wires, fake cobwebs, and glow sticks can be dangerous if chewed.

🕯️ Be candle careful. Wagging tails + open flames = disaster! Opt for battery-operated lights instead.

Give your pets a treat (a safe one!) and lots of love tonight. ❤️🐶🐱

This week, we’re taking a moment to shine a light on the heart and soul of our clinic—our incredible veterinary technicians. 💙

Please join me in thanking our veterinary technicians and veterinary assistants for the hard work they put in every single day, the emotional strength they carry through every case, and the stellar care they provide to every patient who walks (or is carried) through our doors. 🐾

They are the quiet heroes behind the scenes—comforting nervous pets, supporting their families, assisting in surgery, monitoring vitals, and doing it all with compassion, dedication, and skill.

🥁🥁🥁We have some very exciting news to share 🥁🥁🥁

Dr. Katie Shaw is joining the Blue Mountain Veterinary Care Team.
Dr. Shaw grew up on a small beef farm in Central Ohio, and developed a love for animals early in life. She graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2014, and spent the first couple years of her career practicing in Western New York before moving to Central Pennsylvania, where she met her husband. Her professional interests include preventative care and soft tissue surgery, and she has pursued further training in dentistry and ultrasonography. Dr. Shaw’s favorite part of practice is educating clients on their pet’s health needs so that they feel comfortable making the best decision for both them and their pet.
Outside of the clinic, she is typically reading, enjoying the outdoors with her family, or obedience training her naughty dog, Arlo.

Dr. Shaw joins us with a wealth of experience and will be seeing appointments starting next week!

Meet Wanda! Wanda is one of our amazing receptionists who helps keep the office running smoothly and efficiently. She’s also a huge help when things get busy in the treatment area, especially with our smaller patients. You’ll often see her snuggling some of our patients after they’ve had surgery and need a little extra love and cuddles. We’re so lucky to have her as part of our team - and your pets are too!
