Because of some changes, Sue's buyer decided to sell Sue and I knew the perfect person was Scott Depaulo! He bought her and today I loaded her up to go home with him
This is the end of my chapter with Sue but Scott is amazing and I see him frequently so I look forward to seeing there progress!
Have fun on the ranch Sue bean ❤️

I'm so happy to say that Sue was adopted today! She went home with me today and will be with me for a while to further her training!
I'm so glad that I get the opportunity to finish what I started and I can't wait to see what's next for her! Thank you Susan de Roche for trusting in my ability and I can't wait to make her your dream horse!
The second picture is her baby and the trainer who competed with her! These two are carbon copies from looks, attitude, and personality!

I am sooo proud of Sue! She was very nervous to start, but as soon as I realized she was concerned I took a deep breath and just talked to her. As soon as I talked to her she did it! If I'm remembering correctly, she is the only one who did everything of those of us that were in hand (I could be wrong but I'm not sure).
I also thought I'd throw in that there is a story behind the tack Sue is wearing and the outfit I'm wearing
Sue's breastcollar and headstall are the same one that I won with my first challenge horse feather and is also the same set I have used every year since. Sue's saddle is the one I won with frisky last summer, and I'm wearing the buckle I won with my second challenge horse Rosa.
Now we wait and see if we did well enough in body condition and the trail course to make it into the top 10. If that happens, we will compete in the showdown tomorrow evening!
This is the first time that I have shown a riding horse in hand and while it's disappointing that I was not able to get her far enough, I'm soooo proud that I even got her here! She did not spook when the crowd cheered and even though she was nervous, she thought about everything and got through it!
If you are interested in this awesome mare please message me or find me at the expo!

I thought someone might enjoy this picture from a few weeks ago.
These two are two peas in a pod! Rosa and Sue are sooo similar and maybe that's why I love her so much.
These two are built so similarly, have the same attitude, and are equally athletic! Rosa helped sue come out of her shell, she showed her it was ok to be a horse and run and buck and play, but also that when it is time to work to do so happily and when it is time to get caught to walk up and say hi.
I put Sue out with everyone else before I put her with Rosa and she did not get along with or like any of them. Rosa does not like when I bring new horses home and sometimes like to bully them, but the day I put her out with Sue, they were best friends almost instantly. Now that Sue has learned from Rosa, she's happy to be out with everyone (even the donkey)!

Also since the picture shows where we are, I'd like to thank Hartley Performance Horses for allowing me to bring her in. Robert Hartley specifically for taking the time to bounce ideas off of when I was really stuck, and Stacy Jo for believing in me and telling me everytime I saw her that she knew I could do it even when I was so frustrated and ready to give up. Thank you Randi for doing her feet so they were perfect for competition, and Hope for taking the leap and being the first one to clean her stall with her in it besides me! They have all done so much more but the list is too long!

Now to get some sleep because tomorrow is gonna be busy!

Sue got a bath tonight and she's pretty white. This was our last normal day together and let's just say it's been a tough one. She's finally been coming out of her shell and I love it so much! I hope whoever gets this horse this weekend knows how special she is.
I can't believe our journey is almost over. This one went by way to fast 😔
Here's to giving it our all!
I love you Sue bean ❤️

I'm gonna miss this girl ❤️

Sue got to go outside and got a bath yesterday! She did amazing with both
She didn't want to come in but she really wanted scratches so when she came for scratches I scratched her for a while then clipped the lead rope. It took a couple trys but considering she hasn't been loose outside since pickup I don't blame her!
Today we played on the trail course (video coming soon!)
We have less than a week before move in so if your interested please pm me!
I also still have raffle tickets to sell so let me know if you want one or a few!

Sometimes the best training you can give your horse is just hanging out.
Sue is not a horse who likes a lot of affection but when I can get it I do. After I cleaned her stall, I crouched down and asked her to put her head down, then started petting her like this to which she pushed her head towards me so I could get the good spot then starred falling asleep
So I say again you don't always have to make a horse sweat to train them, you can simply hangout with them and accomplish so much!

Ok! I'm so sorry I haven't posted in a while but there haven't been many things to update about
I haven't been able to get that first ride on Sue yet because she's still pretty anxious about me getting on and just sitting but I've been working on getting her to bow/lay down for a couple weeks and tonight she finally bowed! She was calm and did not jump back up and in the end I was able to do it with just my hand on her leg instead of a rope!
Normally I would want a horse to lay down all the way while I teach this but Sue is very unsure about it so baby steps!
I took her to the despooking clinic last weekend and she was soo good! She was unphased about everything, even when I tried things I figured she would spook at and she surprised me again! She didn't care when another horse spooked and ran across the arena and honestly just looked at them like come on, really?

I will be 100% honest and say I have been really down on myself because she is not where I would have liked, BUT just the fact that she is doing so good even though it took me a month to touch her is absolutely amazing!
Some horses just aren't 100 day horses and she is one of them.
I have not had anybody contact me about her so I'm hoping that will happen soon. She really wants to trust and is just very marish which to alot of people that would be a bad thing, but to me it's not because once you have their heart they will do anything for you!
I am sad to see her go, but I can't wait to see what her new owners accomplish moving forward!
I am still working on getting those first rides in, but she may be only in hand for competition because I don't want to traumatize her by pushing her to hard at competition and if that's what happens, I'm just happy I am able to get her there!

It's coming up on time to find Sue's next person, so with that in mind I am going to be 100% honest!

Sue is an amazing horse, she is athletic, willing, and very pretty!
Pros: athletic, willing, beautiful, smart, is the same horse at home as she is when you haul her somewhere, has TONS of groundwork, and is overall AWESOME!

Cons: Sue has a hard time trusting new people unless they are CONFIDENT, she will still be very green come auction time, hates snuggles and kisses

Sue is NOT a beginner horse and will need someone with patience who is experienced.

Here are Sue's accomplishments so far:
- tip requirements (lead, load, tie, pick up feet)
- clipped brand
- been ponied
- had a bath
- comfortably wears a saddle and snaffle bit
- has had me sit on her 3x and worked on flexing
- lots of desensitizating
- hauled to and competed in a show (showmanship 3rd & 5th, mountain trail, in hand trail, halter 4th)
- handled by other people
- massaged by licensed massage therapist
- lunges
- sidepass, haunch turn, forehand turn, lines up to mounting block
- turned out with other horses/a donkey and easy to catch

Goals for the next 30 days:
- get 30 rides (walk, jog, lope)
- haul to vet and have teeth done on Friday
- clip
- ride with other horses
- have feet done 2/27

If you are interested in Sue, please contact me to come meet her or even just to talk and see if she would be a good fit!
I will be willing to help with furthering training after the competition!
