Help us find a rescue for Rocky!!! 🐾💜
Rocky is a neutered male pitbull that came into our hospital with multiple stab wounds. He was surrendered at that time by his owners to our hospital. Our wonderful team got him all fixed up and neutered but now we are having a hard time finding a soft place for him to land. He is available to a RESCUE only. We think that with the proper love and training this boy will thrive!! Please help us spread the word. Any interested rescues may contact our management team here at Shores @ 717-798-8500

Did you know that veterinary endoscopy is a minimally invasive procedure that allows veterinarians to view and treat internal organs without the need for surgery? 🐾 This cutting-edge technology offers countless benefits for our furry friends, including quicker recovery times, less pain, and in some cases a more accurate diagnoses.

Yesterday this handsome guy ate a flamingo that grows in water. Luckily his mom sought help quickly and we were able to retrieve it without doing surgery and he was able to go home the same day!

Flip through the pictures for the highlights of his procedure! Note that the one in his stomach expanded faster than the one that was in water for the same amount of time.

🚨 Attention pet owners! As we head into snake season, it is important to understand the potential dangers of copperhead bites and other venomous snakes, as they can be life-threatening to our beloved furry companions.

🐍 Copperhead bites can release venom that can cause extreme swelling, pain, and tissue damage at the site of the bite. In severe cases, the venom can affect the blood's ability to clot properly, leading to internal bleeding and organ damage.

🚑 If your pet is bitten by a copperhead or other venomous snake, it's crucial to seek immediate veterinary care. Treatment may include anti-venom and supportive care to manage symptoms and prevent complications. Without prompt medical attention, a bite can be fatal for pets.

🐾 To protect your pets from the risk of snake bites, be vigilant when exploring areas where snakes may be present, such as wooded areas or tall grass. Keep your pets on a leash and avoid letting them roam in areas where snakes are known to inhabit.

**🌞☀️ Keep Your Pets Safe in the Heat! 🐶😺**

With summer in full swing, it's crucial to protect our furry friends from heat exhaustion. Dogs and cats can easily overheat, leading to serious health issues. Here are some tips to keep them safe:

1. **Provide Plenty of Water:** Ensure your pets have access to fresh, cool water at all times.
2. **Create Shade:** Make sure they have a shady spot to rest if they're outside.
3. **Avoid Hot Pavements:** Walk your dog early in the morning or late in the evening to avoid hot pavements that can burn their paws.
4. **Never Leave Pets in Cars:** Temperatures can skyrocket in minutes, putting your pets at extreme risk.
5. **Watch for Signs of Heat Exhaustion:** Heavy panting, drooling, lethargy, and vomiting are all warning signs. If you notice these, move your pet to a cooler area and contact your vet immediately.
6. **Limit Exposure Outdoors** Limit your pet’s outdoor adventures to shorter periods of time especially when the sun is at its peak and temperatures exceed 90°.

🔸️ ATTENTION: APPALACHIAN TRAIL DOG OWNERS & HIKERS 🔸️

Over the weekend, it was reported that a hiker found dog treats stuffed with fishhooks near the George W. Outerbridge shelter on the Appalachian Trail.

The incident occurred near the North Trail Loop leading to the shelter, on State Game Lands #217, in Washington Township, Lehigh County.

Items like these could prove deadly to any animal that consumes them, including wild and domesticated animals.

If anyone has any information about the incident or locates more findings, please call 1-833-PGC-WILD or 1-833-PGC-HUNT immediately.

It can cause severe GI upset, skin irritation, inflammation, and in some cases affect the eyes. Keep your pups safe by avoiding areas where rapeseed is present or keeping them on a tight leash during walks. Let's spread the word to keep our four-legged pals healthy and happy! 🐾
