*UPDATE*

We are going to have a 12 hour hospitalization that requires IV fluids, IV antibiotics, IV anti-nausea medications.

Her bloodwork was not bad @ all. Hoping we caught this early.

🆘️We've got a Panleuk kitten🆘️

It's Flik, our sweet little girl we found in a trap outside the night before a viciously cold night.

Shes been battling lungworm & pneumonia for the last 2 weeks and now we have a Panleuk diagnosis. She is only about 3 months old.

She has to make it. She's the sweetest girl ever and deserves a long life.

📣Big Announcement!📣

We are officially bringing back our Dog Program! 🐾

Saving and adopting cats & dogs has always been a priority of Castaway Critters, and I am pleased to say that after close consideration and some re-writing of policies, we are ready to begin a new and improved dog program while continuing to rescue and successfully adopt cats & kittens!

We have no doubt that our new Dog Program will be just as successful as our Cat Program.

We believe rescuing animals and supporting our community while educating others is the key to success.

When asked about the homeless animal crisis, I often respond with, "If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem." When you share, donate, feed and look after the homeless animals, encourage healthy animal habits, and educate others you are part of the solution.

By aiding with the rescue of homeless dogs, we can move towards that solution even more so together.

We will need some support to get started.

What we need:

✅️ Word of mouth support! Please spread this news far and wide! Like, share, comment and tell your friends, family & co-workers.

✅️ Dog fosters. It has been almost 3 years since our dog program was in full swing.

Mr. Cheddar woke up not feeling his best today. After the recent string of sicknesses, he is going to the vet at 10am to be seen.

His brother Earl Grey is smothering him with kisses of healing & comfort.

His Mama has asked that you keep him in your thoughts & on your hearts!

Amelia Update!

You've all been waiting for it, so here we go!

"Hemobartonellosis is a disease in cats that was previously known as feline infectious anemia (FIA). It's caused by a microscopic bacterial parasite that infects a cat's red blood cells. This infection leads to anemia, which is a reduction in the number of red blood cells or the amount of hemoglobin."

This is what she has! We have her on the exact concoction of medication she needs to fight this off & live her best life!

Her "important" number was 23 when we left the hospital, and after several blood tests, this week, her important number is now 27!!!!

She is making excellent progress! She is eating like a champ, has regular 💩 and is soaking up all of her foster Moms love! She is in a very large dog crate while she continues to heal & gain strength!

Please keep her on your hearts & in your thoughts!

*She (and many others) would love to be your Shelter Sweetheart for the Valentine's Day Program if you don't already have a Valentine! 🥰

I will update as I get new information! Thank you all for everything you do for these cats - without you, Amelia would not have survived this.
