I wanna take the time to point out that I am a Service Dog trainer. I do have the vest in my car to take whatever dog I want into whatever place I want and play pretend. Often times professional trainers get a pass because we have the logo we have the gear we have the car, but we also have to take the time to respect the people inside the store and respect our surroundings. I chose Michael’s to work in because I had the whole family of pups with me and they all needed socialization work. It’s my duty and my responsibility as a trainer to make sure I am following all the laws as well and not getting in the way of the general public.
Some people are scared of dogs. Some people are super allergic to dogs. Some people just plain don’t like dogs. (which I don’t understand.). So it’s our job to be respectful the general public I try to bring my guys places on off times when there’s not gonna be a lot of people there if I am looking for a more difficult and challenging environment, I will find someplace like a craft fair or a train station
When you act entitled or disrespectful as a dog trainer that goes against your reputation, don’t forget that

Cleo is wrapping up her recall lessons with me. YES SHE IS WEARING AN ELECTRIC COLLAR
Let me explain;
First I teach the dog on a leash what the act of coming to me looks like; bring your body here and LET ME TOUCH YOU or sit. An essential part of the recall that most people are missing is the dog has to remain close enough to you for long enough that you can get a collar or a leash on the dog in the case of an emergency!!
once the dog shows me that they know what the word come means then I teach it on leash with distractions come away from people that are petting you come away from people that are giving you treats, away from other dogs. Then you add the element of speed. Come to me quickly!
All of this is taught with a lot of positive reinforcement and going at the dog speed .
The electric collar is the final edition to the recall when I can take the leash off after the dog knows what the word means Especially in the beginning phases I do not want to give the dog the opportunity to disobey the command and then learn that they can blow me off from a distance where I can’t reach the dog quickly
Typically, with this message, it only takes once or twice with a correction from the color for the dog to completely understand the entire picture

@tracie_meandering and her husband Chris absolutely rocking a group lesson! Tracie recently adopted Cleo who you might have seen in my last few reels. She struggled with ivermectin stimulation, absolutely no leash manners, lacking confidence and was an absolute wild child in the house. Remy has already been through my training program and today we took a big step into integrating obedience into the household. Through the obedience the dogs understand they must listen to the handler even if they are around one another, a super duper important skill to have with younger dogs! I hear it so often “they listen so well until the housemate is there”.
Cleo is enrolled in my 30 day + recall program where she’ll learn all her house manners, basic on leash obedience and that stunning recall her brother has!!
