Well, some changes are coming! I have decided to close the doors to the kennel, and get out of training dogs professionally. I enjoyed training dogs, but the time has come to move on.
In Iraq, I learned a very hard lesson- life is short, and tomorrow isn’t guaranteed. This is one of many lessons that Riley’s life taught me, and continues to teach me. The thing that I didn’t enjoy about dog training is that you never have time. Your interests and passions slowly start to slip away as you become more and more consumed with this lifestyle. For me, that’s an issue. I guess what I’m trying to say is that if you’re not happy doing something, move on because who knows if tomorrow will even come.
I just wanted to thank a couple of people:
My mom, Jill Stanley, for always supporting and believing in me no matter what. I have no idea where I’d be without you.
My Uncle Gregg and Aunt Tricia for their unwavering support because without you guys, this adventure would have never happened in the first place.
Lois Munroe for taking me on and mentoring me to become a dog trainer, and the friendship that came with it.
All of the friends I made through this whole dog game.
My clients - thank you for trusting me with your animals.
And Jaclyn for enduring this crazy lifestyle over the past few years. The LONG days and nights, the weekends away, the pile of dogs always around, and the endless amounts of dog s**t to scoop. I love you.
We will be putting our house on the market, and moving back to Southern Maine!
