We live on a farm in the Shenandoah Valley, enjoy raising beef cows as well as quality AKC Newfoundland dogs. Our first Newfoundland, Maya, is 9 years old. She began our love for the breed. Her first litter was Feb 2014. We have since trained Clara, another one of our breeding females, to be a certified therapy dog who loves to visit a local nursing home and high school special education class. Newton, one of our sires, we have trained in carting and enjoys pulling around small children. Maya is retired and loves to be the farm dog. We have 3 other Newfies that are very loved.. Ida, Zola, and Henry.
We typically have a couple litters a year. Our 5 breeding dogs have the recommended health clearances. Puppies are examined by a licensed veterinarian, have their first shots, deworming, and most are trained to use a doggie door when leaving after 9 weeks old.
Newfoundlands, known as “gentle giants”, are wonderful dogs … though be sure to research the breed. They grow fast, and need consistent training by an adult for at least the first year. They also need care with their thick double coat, most drool, and they have lots of energy as a pup. However, a well trained Newfoundland can be your best friend, and will enjoy being by your side whenever you are around.
