We couldn't be more proud of Dr. Hinshaw and all of his leadership and accomplishments in the Embryo Transfer industry!
🎖️ Congratulations to our 2023 recipient of the AETA Edwin Robertson “Lifetime Achievement Award”……Dr. Randall Hinshaw.
Randall received his undergraduate degree from University of Georgia in 1977 in Agriculture and Food Science and his DVM degree in 1982. After graduation, he began his career with Ashby Herd Health Services in Harrisonburg, Virginia, and became an owner there in 1987. Several years ago, he founded Ashby Genetics as a stand-alone embryo transfer business. For the past 25 years, he’s been in exclusive embryo transfer practice, serving clients in 16 states and Puerto Rico. He’s also practiced internationally as part of the AETA cooperator committee.
He has collected embryos from over 20,000 donor animals and recovered at least 150,000 transferable embryos. He has also transferred at least 100,000 embryos as part of his practice.
Dr. Hinshaw has coauthored multiple papers with colleagues, including ones on cryopreservation, donor stimulation and recipient management. He was one of the first practitioners to use timed embryo transfer in the field. He has presented numerous times at various meetings, including the AABP, AETA, IETS and Society for Theriogenology.
He has mentored hundreds of veterinary students over the years being in close proximity to Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. He’s held leadership roles in multiple organizations, including serving as Chairman of the VVMA Committee for Food Animal Practice, President of Virginia Academy of Food Animal Practice and currently serves as the District 2 Director for the AABP. He has held leadership positions in the AETA including being a member of the GMO Resolution Committee, Nominating Committee, Professional Review Committee, Membership Committee, Program Committee and Cooperator Committee. He served on the AETA board of directors and was president in 2002. He has lead the AETA-AABP Edwin Robertson Embryo Transfer Workshop for many years and his ability to teach and mentor others is exemplary.
