This morning we've had to say goodbye to one of our precious permanent residents, Tenchi. She was one of our first, and most severe rescue cases, and improved so much over the last few years! I promised when I brought her home that she would spend the rest of her life with me, and I am so happy to have been able to keep that promise. Fly high, best girl ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

For anyone that has met me at an event, you've heard my "standard speech" 50 tines lol. For everyone else:

Me, every time someone sees a parrot, especially big ones like macaws and cockatoos and goes "OMG I WANT ONE."

These things are just part of being a parrot. I talk way more people out of getting birds than into them by being honest. 🤷‍♀️😅

Pretty sure this will be my event t-shirt design for 2025. Might do a big order if anyone else wants one!

Do we have any experienced macaw keepers looking for a new addition? Rita is an adult female that is generally sweet, laid back, and tolerant of both people and other birds. HOWEVER, 100% of birds bite, and Rita has bitten a person in the face, requiring several stitches, in her previous placement. For this reason, I would recommend her for a MACAW EXPERIENCED home only. Happy 2025 everyone! We're going to be starting the year off strong with a vet trip for our little houseguest, Prince. We've been working with him since October, and he's improved since then, but he has a serious mutilation problem that doesn't only involve his feathers. Physical intervention like collars can keep him safe from this habit, but we are inow looking at the possibility of medicine to help settle his nerves. Cockatoos are more prone to neurotic behaviors than any other parrot family, so it's something to consider heavily before bringing one home ❤️

Last ringneck of the year, and attitude wise, probably the best of the group, a cinnamon. Cinnamon is similar to lutino, but with a slight greenish brownish tinge, think like dishwater blonde but for a bird 😂 Handfed with the others and flighty. Will need 1 on 1 work to settle and bond. Ringnecks are not easy birds on the best day, so I don't recommend them for beginning keepers.

Olive green Indian Ringneck still waiting for a home. Handfed, but SUPER FLIGHTY. Last time I tried to photograph him, he dropped his tail and fell in the macaw water 🤦‍♀️ I would not recommend this one for a beginning bird keeper or someone that hasn't had a ringneck before. Gonna need a good bit of dedicated 1 on 1 to settle down.
