If someone is looking for a nice NAVHDA hunt-tested and wild game hunted Large Munsterlander that is also good as a companion in the home, Miracle’s kennel in Alaska needs to rehome this boy. Like our Bryson that is one of our primary hunting companions at our kennel he unfortunately came back with hips that aren’t breeding eligible. However, also like Bryson whom turns six this month, this doesn’t mean he won’t have several excellent years out on the water, in the woods, and on the field in front of him for the right home!

Just Snowy Oaks Bryson got to hunt the last day of ruffed grouse season here in Michigan today. We covered a couple of miles, but no birds were seen. Unfortunately, both Willow Hills Anniken and Herz und Seele’s Susanna decided to go into heat over the last couple of days. This is one major benefit about having a neutered male for our kennel….no worries ever about not being able to hunt due to a heat cycle!

Happy Thanksgiving from our kennels here in West Michigan!

One of the events we were truly thankful for this year was the arrival of our ‘C’ litter. The reports we have heard back at 4-months old from our placements are just what we were looking for: confident, inquisitive, and sweet-tempered pups proving to have strong drive, pointing & retrieving capabilities. ❤️

Daily life with an LM:
1. Your socks are never 100% dry because your LM doesn't know how to properly drink from a bowl.
2. "Dude, I'm just going to the bathroom.... Okay you can come."
3. Chewing, chewing, and more chewing.
4. Can't remember the last time you sat on the couch alone... Or without an elbow in your gut.
5. TV goes black..... "Seriously? Thats the second time you've stepped on the remote!"
6. One word... Starfish.
7. Geez it's quiet.... (Runs to find out where dog is).
8. Your house is where toys come to die, and you whole heartedly apologize to each one before it meets its doom.
9. "Off the counter." ....2 seconds later, "I said off the counter." ...1 second later "I said off!"
10. Fellow dog owner out in public- "geez your setter runs fast!" You- "he's a Munster 😑."
11. Someone help! The serial snuggler has come for me! I'm going to be snuggled to death 😲!
12. "What's in your mouth? Oh god, get it out!"
13. I would make a snide comment about personal space but I forget what that is.... 😑.
14. LM’s favorite dance move: Stop, drop, and roll in something gross.
15. Wait I take that back. LM’s favorite dance move: The wiggle butt.
16. The zoomies... While in the house 😖.
17. The LM motto: from Psycho to sleeping in 1.6 seconds.
18. Grass? What's grass? We have dirt.
19. Spouse- "where's the dog?" You- "under the comforter." Spouse- "I don't see her." You- "she’s there."

This was Susie’s first opportunity to track a deer for some acquaintances, and she did fantastic! Never miss an opportunity like this for your versatile hunting dog if you can help it….it is fun for all parties involved.
Along the way, she also found and hard stick pointed a grouse from 20yds away just to show off for the hunting party. 😂

The last few days have been nothing short of amazing despite the very dry and hot for this time of year conditions. We covered 26-miles on foot in three days in both the northern lower peninsula and Upper Peninsula (the dogs covered more). Snowy Oaks Bryson and Herz und Seele’s Susanna found 18 ruffed grouse in thick cover and mostly wet ground which presented exactly three shooting opportunities and just one bird down. No woodcock or waterfowl were seen despite looking. While we didn’t come home with a bag full, lots of great memories were made. It was my husband and I’s first time alone without our five children for more than just an overnight in 7.5yrs; WAY overdue and we made the best of every minute.

It was a great afternoon out in the woods today with Bryson, Susie, and for a short while little miss Stella. We moved eight ruffed grouse all within a quarter mile of each other, but the dogs covered six miles overall with us walking 3.5miles. We only sighted three of these birds due to thick cover, one shot, and no birds down. All of them were in short stubby evergreen trees in low wet ground, but not on the ground, and they were not holding to point despite the dog’s best attempts. It’s definitely a strange year….very, VERY dry and quite flighty birds.
