Welcome 13 month old Re*****on AKA Remi to the doghouse. Remi is a sweetheart of a boy with massive paws and is so gentle and mild mannered. Remi was relinquished today in order to save him from a life of abuse. We would like to thank this owner for doing the right thing for Re*****on. It took real guts to stand against your family member for the sake of this precious dog.
Every time we're full I think God laughs at us and has other plans! Once we have completely assessed him and have further information regarding his adoptability we will keep you posted :-)

Update: This sweet girl really needs a home to call her own. Maya`s adoption also includes free boarding for her entire life at the doghouse! Adoption fees are simply a donation of your choosing to help us rescue the next!
Maya is a 13 month old Golden Retriever mix with lots of energy and love to give.. she has been rehabilitating with the pack since August. She is an Abuse Survivor who is looking for a very specific home!
A k9 high energy playmate
Large fenced in yard, prefer acreage
Patient adult humans with older/teen children
Firm but gentle leadership
Maya loves car rides, running, rough housing dogs, tug, fetch, exercise, people, kids, zoomies, shredding stuffies or dog beds when bored.
Maya doesn't like hitting, swatting, yelling, being alone for more than 4 hours, going inside new places, most treats, having to watch out for small pets, kids, elderly or the injured.
Maya is sweet, affectionate and a highly active fun dog! She is spayed, hw negative, utd on all Vaccinations.
If Maya's needs are not met as mentioned above she becomes destructive! For example, if you leave her alone for 5 hours and/or have left her with no activities in her crate she will break out and try to eat through a wall to find you. If you have her around small children or animals or an injured person, she will run right through them at some point! If you begin swatting, hitting, yelling to get her attention she will begin destroying your home by urinating or chewing it! If she does not get enough exercise on a daily basis she will act out! Please do not inquire if you cannot meet all of these items! She is young and still healing from her past and has come a long way from the poor dog we couldn't even touch 3 months ago. We took all seven down to the city of Hartford for a social outing. They were practicing seeing others from the comfort of our vehicle. The pack which consists of Tess, Jax, Kyra, Briar Rose and Trixie Rose with special guests Mr Paco the Taco Wiggles and Maya. While the pack is very well versed in human interaction, Tess will always struggle in this area. Wigs and Maya gained much confidence by being in the safety of the vehicle and surrounded by the pack. Dogs learn best from other dogs:-) Wigs is gaining more confidence with each outing and is now allowing others to pet him and even seeking out attention. Maya is slowly gaining confidence and felt very comfortable being petted from inside of the vehicle, as long as she had Jax and Kyra right next to her. Strangers can still tell that she has some hesitation, but she is coming along nicely:-)

Your silly meow and heckle will always be a memory that will put a smile on my face. Your ability to round up 10 dogs into a line at the water, will remain unmatched.Thank you for choosing us to love and bully for your long, incredibly adventurous life. Cats rule and dogs drool because of you sweet girl! I miss the softness of your smokey fur and those dazzling green eyes already 😢

💔😭Please light a candle and/or say a prayer on Monday, October 28 at 1pm.😭💔
Super seniors Kahzi & Summer have spoken! As if saying goodbye to them isn't hard enough, they've decided to go together!
Kahzi's breathing is becoming more labored by the day. The cool and damp are increasing her symptoms. She gave her Dad the look, it's time.
Summer has been secluding herself for about 6 weeks. She developed an upper respiratory infection, which was hard fought. She then recovered, but continued to isolate herself. Then about 10 days later, she woke up completely blind. We missed any signs that she was having vision issues prior to the infection. She is having panic attacks daily. It's time!

Some that come in are more skittish than others! This little guy has been glued to our 4 year old grandsons side for the first couple of days. He refused to be touched or allow us to reach for him without running away. To so much as walk past us in a doorway has been more than Mr Wiggles could handle. However, he has completely trusted this rough housing, loud, boisterous 4 year old.
After Hunter left, Mr Wiggles looked around for him, howled and searched for a couple of hours. Then we had to run a 45 minute errand. We left the go pro going, but there was nothing really to report. He was not anxious, he followed the lead of most of the pack. Running from one end of the home to the other only in a relaxed walk. He peered out two windows and then relaxed on the back of the couch.
Later, when we returned home, he was on the back of the couch greeting us with his little yip. We sat on the steps and i took selfies as he slowly worked his way out of the doorway and walked past us.
By this evening, he asked to sit on both of our laps and nestled into our arms! Slowly and always at their pace is the best way to go! Trust can't be rushed but must be built! These pics at the doorway may not seem like much to you, but to us.....it was everything we needed to see from him to begin opening up to us! Right now he's asleep in Toms arms as he watches me type out todays report. This...this is why!!! Our moves will be less scary now, we will be able to move around without him in a panic. One day at a time, today is only the 3rd day.

Mr Wiggles has found a trusted friend at Shepard's Doghouse :-) he follows Hunter everywhere! I am 100% certain he has been exposed to loud energetic boys:-) no movement or squeal out of Hunter scares him. However, every movement from adult sized humans scares him! He doesn't freeze, he ducks rolls and runs, to get as far away as fast as possible. We have all had a brief moment to where we have been able to console him and try to build trust. Once our grandchildren return home, he may open up more to us. Right now we are just giving him his space.
Clues/A few things are clear:
His teeth tell us he is not extremely old. His nails are nicely trimmed and have been well kept. He is not neutered. He adores little boys. He is interested in Kyra. He shows mild interest in the Rose babies. Men are terrifying to him, even Tom at this point. He's a blanket snuggler. He's scared and tired! Humans have let him down!
Any info you have on this sweet boy found at the Paw Paw Wal-Mart is appreciated!

Finally trapped after atleast 5 days of sightings at Paw Paw Walmart & Prospect trailer park. This unaltered male Chihuahua is now in the care of Shepard's Doghouse. He has been reported to VBCAC and will be on stray hold for ten days before we begin accepting applications for adoption.
Thank you Mary Humphrey for your continuous efforts to save the lost! It's a pleasure working with you, as always!
This was our grandson, Hunter`s, first rescue mission. He's 4! The name he chose for this little guy is Mr Wiggles. More pics & video to come
