To enable people to act on their beliefs in the importance of a healthier and more beautiful city by providing technical and physical support and access to other resources. T

2024 was a year filled with unforgettable moments and meaningful connections, and none of it would have been possible without YOU – our amazing community! 🌿💚 Your passion and dedication have helped us make a real impact, and we are SO grateful for your support.

Looking ahead, 2025 is shaping up to be even more exciting, with countless ways to get involved and stay connected. Whether you’re stopping by our booth at the CT Flower and Garden Show, joining us for an event or workshop, volunteering with the KNOX Greater Hartford Green Team, or discovering fresh finds at the Farmers Market – there’s something for everyone. ✨

At KNOX, we're growing fresh, healthy produce all year long, even in the winter! We have two Tower Gardens – vertical aeroponic systems that let us grow herbs and leafy greens in limited space, without soil, and with minimal water usage. 🌿

Here's how it works: We start our crops from seed, and once they sprout, we place them in the Tower Garden units. These plants get everything they need automatically – from watering to timed LED lights that keep them growing even on cloudy days. 🌞💡

We’re currently growing delicious herbs like cilantro, parsley, and basil, as well as leafy greens such as kale, bok choy, salad greens, Swiss chard, and mustard greens. From seed to table, it takes just 2 weeks to 1 month to harvest fresh, nutritious produce! 🥗🍃

Thanks to our urban farmer, Athenia and urban farm manager, Anwar, with support from Manny at Micro2Life and Dr. Wu at UConn’s JUMP Garden program, this system has been thriving! 🌿✨

And the best part? We donate the harvest to families in need and to Hands on Hartford. A full harvest can yield up to 15 lbs of fresh produce, helping to nourish our community. 💚
