We hope yall endured this storm safely. The straw was helpful for sure. We stocked the doghouses with about 6 inches of it (thank you for the donations!). We also built a massive warming fire and put out heat lamps for our pups. They were happy to play in the snow. Our horde of cats on the other hand are patiently waiting for the white stuff to disappear. We still have plenty of animals in need of permanent homes and are always accepting donations of food and toys.

We are running low on straw. We’re planning on doing a Tractor Supply run tomorrow to get more straw for the puppies to get them through this cold week. 🥶 If you would like to sponsor a bale, they’re $15.

If you are feeding a male cat, please do not wait to have him neutered. Every second he is out there is a HUGE risk. Unneutered male cats fight. I don't care how sweet you think he is. All of them fight - it's their nature. And it's the way the most severe feline diseases are spread. You can prevent this before it happens! And, you can prevent a lot of new kittens being born outside to suffer in the harsh environment.

Don't wait for him to show up injured!
Don't wait for the weather to get warmer.
Don't wait because "he can't have kittens".
Don't wait because "you'll do it later".
Don't wait to earn his trust more.
Don't wait for him to contract deadly diseases.

Don't wait.

Stella and Rush were two of the four kittens (one passed early on) we took in as our first rescue back in May of last year. They’ve grown into such beautiful kittens and have great spirits. We worried that they may never find homes. Well in the last week, these two found the perfect homes. Stella was adopted a few days ago and Rush just left to her new home. It was definitely hard to watch them leave as they have been part of our family for the last 9 months but the last remaining kitten wriggled her way into our family and isn’t going anywhere so at least we have that. Our longest residents have all been adopted. Mission accomplished! Thanks for supporting rescue pets!

😺 Special for male kitties: just because they can't have babies doesn't mean you shouldn’t neuter them. Neutering can lead to a healthier, happier pet and help prevent various behavioral issues. 😺

We do our best to keep our pups comfortable and kennel-free. It definitely poses challenges but as long as each dog behaves, they get to hang out with the pack. Most of these dogs have been together for months and do really well. Like clockwork, most always take a mid-morning snooze after breakfast while Rudy serenades them with his barking.

Gemma has had some setbacks in her manners and social etiquette recently getting into spats with a couple other dogs. Perhaps it’s the full moon or cold weather but we have made the determination that she has a hard time playing with others. While it does seem to be certain dogs she doesn’t care for, mostly females of similar sizes, it’s in her best interest to be in an only-dog household. She does fine with cats and is house-trained as well as kennel. This is rather heartbreaking as she had a family lined up but they have other fur babies and we don’t want to put them at risk. So, Gemma is available for adoption again.
