There is still one spot left for the Alpaca Shearing Clinic, if you are interested in attending please let me know soon. This clinic will teach you how to shear your own animals or start your own shearing business. You will be shearing alpacas both days. I am only accepting 4 teams so that each can get plenty of instruction. Other shearers that I have taught will be on hand on Sunday to assist. Pass the word to anyone who might be interested. Clint

It was a great day today as I had the pleasure of having my daughter and granddaughter help me with some alpacas. Dawnna (my daughter) caught and trimmed feet while Alyssa (my granddaughter) held heads and learned about giving injections with the supervision of the owner.

It's the last day of the 2024 Moses Lake Shearing School. As always, most students had no idea what they were getting themselves into but after 5 days of wrestling and sweating they are coming away fulfilled and feeling accomplished.

Shearing is officially underway. 3 jobs today, some little sheep, some medium sized and some big ones. I also worked with a new aspiring shearer and guided her through her first sheep ever shorn. I think Heather Lynn did great and she will work with me again Friday and Saturday. Enjoying the ambo shearing RV.

2nd job of the year was at one of my good customers whom I have sheared for for many years. She always has great food & neighbors to help. This year, my daughter-in-law and grandsons came out to enjoy the day with me.

2nd job of the season was for a long time customer. As it was close to Northport, my daughter-in-law and grandsons came out and had a great time. Helen always makes everyone fill welcome with great snacks, drinks & goodies for the neighbors who come to help.

Shearing is a busy and important time for sheep health, wool quality and your operation. Make sure you’re prepared for the big day!

These are the Western Region shearers that were there however David will be putting more time into the mid west now. It's also humbling that I was able to help David & Michael get into the industry.

A great time was had by myself and many other shearers from across the USA at the National Sheep Shearing Championships during the Black Hills Stock Show in Rapid City SD. I have been wanting to attend this event for many years. I didn't expect to do very well as I have been shearing fewer sheep every year placing 7th out of 9.
The annual meeting of the American Sheep Shearers Council was held also and am happy to be re-elected as the Western Region Representative for the council.

I am now scheduling for 2024 shearing season. If you are one of my existing customers then you know that I will be contacting you to schedule your animals for shearing. If you want a specific date or need to schedule earlier or later, contact me. The annual Shearing School that I help instruct at has had to change their time from the first week of April to the 3rd week so I will be rearranging my April schedule to accommodate this.

Shearing season, for me, is pretty much over. Got home Sunday night, sheared 27 alpaca today on the way to Sandpoint to get a ton of hog food & be home tomorrow. Now only about 5 or 6 small jobs left scattered across the Inland Northwest.

Shearing season is winding down here in Washington state and north Idaho. After a big setback because of cold snowy weather in mid April, I finally have everyone rescheduled or scheduled with only 2 weeks left of this season. Been on the road shearing every day since March 24th except for being snowed out for 4 days in central Washington and home for 5 days in May. I haven't been posting much as I have been busy. With this being my 24th year, I am definitely thinking about slowing down. I have trained several very dedicated shearers and mentored or worked with many others. I am passing many jobs on to them and will pass more on in the next couple years. I do not plan to retire from the business just yet but would like to be home more. I haven't taken many photos but here are a few of the highlights.
