I couldn't ask for a sweeter, more patient horse. My student needed to go to the bathroom right before getting on for her lesson, and I didn't even have to hold Tina at the mounting block. Tina is just the best! ❤️.

Here is Katie cantering Kit on the rail for the first time! Katie worked hard on becoming balanced and moving with the horse while cantering on the lunge line. She has worked on no hands and no stirrups while cantering. For her last lesson, she got to try cantering on her own. Good job, Katie! I'll miss teaching you!

In October, we have a spot available in a group lesson on Friday's 4:30-6:30pm. To be in this spot, the student must have ridden Kit before or have taken lessons somewhere and are confident W/T on the rail. Also, we have availability on Monday afternoons now and possibly another day in October. Call or text Jennifer at 843-639-1045 to schedule your lessons!

*Stuents must be ages 5+. Students must be under 170 pounds(to ride Kit).*

Great info-
To add, I grew up feeding round bales, no judgment at all, we do the best we can for our horses. My goal here is to provide education for you to make the best decision for your program.

Round bales have a tendency to have a higher NDF meaning they aren’t as digestible- this is a very generalized statement and of course it all depends but in my area this is what I see a lot. I recommend testing the hay if you can, definitely keeping it stored properly out of the weather. When it’s not as digestible you tend to see more “hay bellies” that’s the horses way of telling you that they’re struggling to break down what they’re eating.

Round bales are also a lot harder to find mold, dead animals and trash. All of these things we don’t want your horse to eat. Just be aware and do your best.

We have openings for two new students on Monday afternoons! These spots are private riding lessons that include 30-45 minutes of horse care and a 30-minute riding lesson. New student lessons are $60 per lesson for the first month. After that, new students who want to continue can sign up for the tuition plan of $250 a month. Call Jennifer at 843-639-1045 to schedule your child's lessons.

*Must be 5+ years old to take riding lessons. The rider weight limit is 150 pounds *

Summer is over, and school is back in session! We are doing late evening lessons until the weather starts getting cooler. Baylee and Skylar enjoyed their riding lesson this evening.

When it is hot and humid, we often untack and handwalk the horses at the end of the lesson so they can cool off faster. Here is Katie and Kit walking in the shade. 😎

Ember and Remi enjoyed their riding lessons this morning. We groomed and tacked up Tina together, and then they took turns with the riding part of their lesson. For Remi, it was his first riding lesson. Ember has ridden with me in the past and was super excited to be back. Ember just loves Tina and gave her lots of extra scratches and hugs. ❤️

Happy birthday, Tina! She looks great for a 27-year-old! This summer will make 10 years since Tina moved to Joyful Noise Riding Academy. I can't believe it has already been so long! Tina has always been such a good girl. She is the best horse I have ever had. We love you, Tina!

In loving memory of Cassidy Renee Reed
June 10, 2007 - March 9th, 2024

I mostly knew Cassie as a young, sweet, and fun little girl who loved me and my horses. I had the joy of teaching Cassie about horses. The horse farm was her happy place.

Cassie was super excited when I invited her to my wedding. She told me before the wedding about her new dress she had bought for the occasion. Cassie was the life of the party in her new dress.

Cassie took a long break from lessons with me. She came back for lessons last spring and rode with me again until the fall. I enjoyed getting to know Cassie again as a beautiful, sweet, and funny young woman. During her lessons, Cassie told me about how she loved Jesus and was involved with her church youth group.

Cassie left this world too soon. But I bet she is excited about the new dress she got in heaven. Please keep her family in your prayers.

Kit turned 18 today! It is hard to believe it has already been 4 years since I bought Kit. Kit is a sweet mare, but she has a spunky attitude sometimes. I love you, Kit Kat. ❤️

Learning how to lunge a horse is an important horsemanship skill! I put a lead rope on the ground to make a spot for my students to stand in. Otherwise, students tend to move around too much and not stay in the same spot.
Katie enjoyed working on her lunging skills with Kit the other week. Katie's favorite part of lunging is watching Kit canter.

I forgot to post this one from last week. Carlisle was very excited and proud of herself for finding the rhythm of the rising trot. This was her second time trying to trot. For a long time, she thought trotting was too scary to try. Carlisle decided on this day that trotting is actually fun!

We had fun on Saturday in our group Unmounted Lesson. This month, the kids learned about horse blanketing! We talked about how the horse's winter coat keeps them warm and why someone might clip a horse. We talked about why, when to blanket, and why you might not need to blanket. We talked about different types of blankets, parts of blankets, and, of course, we practiced putting blankets on the horses! It was a beautiful 80-degree day for our lesson, so the horses thought it was too hot for this, but they were pretty good sports.

Yay for hay! They are cutting the hay fields! We will hopefully have square bales ready to store in the barn on Friday or Saturday!
