We at HCAR are so grateful to ALL our vet partners and can’t say enough good things about the care and compassion they show to our battered and neglected rescue pups. Today, we’d like to give a massive shoutout to Dr. Jaime Terry and the Lake Hartwell Veterinary Clinic staff. Dr. Terry came in clutch and saved a life that matters with emergency surgery for Honey, our starved lab mix pup, from a cruelty case back in January.

Our wonderful volunteers worked tirelessly late into the night, saving this injured baby. Does anyone recognize this angel? The dog was hit by a car, and thankfully, the person who called in rescue stayed until help arrived. Found in rural Hart County.

♥️Zoe is a 3-year-old Miniature Australian Shepherd♥️She was rescued from a breeder in the fall. Zoe has been spayed, received her vaccines, and is on heartworm prevention. She is playful and a little sassy as she is still learning to behave as a pet. She likes to chew. She has learned to play with her chew toys, but if anything is within her reach, she will chew that too🐶She's about 70% house-trained. Zoe must be on a schedule and provided with potty pads for nighttime accidents. Although she gets along well with the adults in her foster family, she has shown aggression towards children🫣She is very possessive her "person" and needs to be in a home with❗️no🚨children or other pets. She seldom barks and loves to cuddle and be close to her person. Zoe will automatically take up your spot on the sofa.

Helene is still working on her house training, and she can be full of excitement and a bit chatty. Helene is also a sweetheart who’s protective of her favorite human. Susie’s heartbreaking story 💔🥲…
Her owner passed away very unexpectedly and she had been the love of his life…she was always by his side…riding a Tractor or Lawn Mower or in his Car- she also ate everything he did - and lots of it too !! We could find no vet records to show her age or vaccine history so best guess from relatives and friends is around 8 yrs old…got her to Lavonia Animal Hospital and she is now fully vetted - but the news was not good-she is Heartworm Positive and needs to lose several pounds - she’ll also need a Dental and Bloodwork and other things to get her where she needs to be…she’s adjusted very well to eating dog food now and is on a strict healthy diet-she’s very quiet until she needs to go potty or be fed - her favorite thing to do is chase a ball but for now the vet says she can’t be running so keeps it in her mouth and sleeps with it in her bed 💕 She loves attention and and is sweet as can be- we are taking applications on her now hoping we find the perfect home for her— we have sooo many “special needs” dogs in our care and our Vet Bills and Food Bills are outrageous- any DONATIONS not just for Susie but for all our expenses will be greatly appreciated as we get no funds from any Government Entity and we are 501C3- we couldn’t save all the ones we do without your support. Hershey🍫is an amazing 5 yr old ~very quiet ~Yorkie that looks like a Schnauzer!!❤️He still needs to lose a few more pounds and prefers to be the only dog so that he can have all the attention- squeaky toys and Benebones !! He absolutely loves his humans but a home with no very small kids is best.

Bailey is a full grown- fully vetted adult Chiweenie that weighs 6 lb and is 9 mo old - she is a total love bug 💕she was rescued after living with 10 other small dogs(along with Stella) - she was very scared to begin with but is now loving her soft bed-lots of food and treats and her toys- very quite while crated at night.💞 Apply @ www.hartcountyanimalrescue.org

Trinity is a pure bred Doberman(DOB: 4-20-23) and now weighs 52 lb - she was born with a birth defect and we had to have her leg amputated as a young puppy-she recovered nicely and was adopted by a couple that had already adopted two others from us…they’ve now realized even with only 3 legs she’s still too active for them so we now have her back - we’ll update more once we see how she adjusts being rehomed after 18 months- she does not like to share her toys or food we were told-please submit your application if interested - we hate for them to come back to a kennel after being in a home.

Stella is a 2 yr old Maltese/Shih Tzu/Poodle ???? Mix that only weighs 9lbs💕. She is fully vetted and ready for her forever home!! She came to us very scared after living with 10 other dogs (same place as Bailey) she is now a total sweetheart that loves her soft bed, food and treats - and is learning to play with toys…very quiet when crated at night.🤗
