Cooperstown Veterinary Associates Policy changes- Effective August 1, 2024

Hello all,
We are updating some policies here at CVA due to recent changes both in the veterinary medicine industry, and NYS as a whole.
NYS has recently changed laws regarding dispensing and prescribing in veterinary medicine. These changes involve advising, reporting, and liability, and are required for any medication dispensed, or prescription written. Our costs are increased for every visit by extra time necessary and supporting subscription services, as well as increased liability. The same reporting is required for every script we write, as well as meds dispensed in house and online scripts.
After a period of absorbing the new increase in cost, we reluctantly are instituting a fee for written prescriptions. We will not charge fees for meds dispensed in house, or scripts for meds we do not stock. As part of our legal compliance, we request your email contact and you may receive emails from “Plumbs”.
Please feel free to complain to your legislation, or NYSVMS.

We understand life happens, but we are seeing an increase in no shows and same day cancellations. We are currently booking out 1 week for sick appointments, and 2-3 weeks for wellness visits. Due to this we are updating our policies. Cancellations within 24 hours of your appointment will be subject to a cancellation fee of $65. No shows to an appointment will be subject to a $75 no-show fee. We reserve the right to change or waive these fees on a case-by-case basis.

FINALLY!!!!!!! After almost 6 long months of waiting, our sweet Ashley has found her retirement.
Best wishes and lots of love to Ashley and her new family on this fantastic adventure 💜💙

Hi all, we are once again reaching out to find this beautiful girl a home. Ashley is a 16yo spayed Jack Russell. She has been living at the clinic since January. 4 months is a long long time for a dog, and she is beginning to show signs of kennel stress. She needs a home with no big dogs, and someone who will be willing to put up with a little mess making in the house as she is unable to hold it for too long. She is the biggest sweetheart, highly food motivated, and all she really wants is a comfy bed to sleep in. At this point, it is becoming detrimental to her mental health to be here.

This week was Veterinary Receptionist Week and here at CVA, we have 3 of the very best! Each of these ladies brings a positive attitude and a fantastic energy to each and every day here. From fielding phone calls and messages, juggling our schedules, to keeping up on the ins and outs of everyday, we couldn’t do it without them! A huge huge thank you to Missy, Sarah, and Alyssa for everything you do everyday 🐶🐱🐾💜

Hi friends,
You may remember our post a few weeks ago about these sweet little Jack Russell’s.
Well it’s been 3 weeks, and unfortunately we had to make the tough decision to separate these ladies. Lena has done amazing in her foster (and was adopted!!!) but Ashley had a very difficult time settling in and getting along with her much bigger house mate. So for everyone’s safety, she was brought back to us.
We are still looking for a potential foster (or adopter) for Ashley. She is around 16 years old, spayed and UTD on vaccines. She loves treats, cuddles, and big comfy blankets. Per her original foster she did well with small dogs, kids, and cats, but was anxious around bigger dogs.
All of Ashley’s medical care is being sponsored by one of our technicians. Please please share this post and help us find this sweet lady a retirement home.

Howdy all-
This Friday 3/8/2024, CVA is changing hours. We will be open 9am-2pm with limited services available. We will be open for prescription refills and tech visits (Nail trims, a**l gland expression, ear cleanings, blood draws, mild grooming that does not require sedation). There will be no vaccine booster appointments, and we will be unable to give out any lab results.
We will NOT be open for doctors exams or any emergencies. Our doctors will be out of state. If you have an emergency this day please call us and we will direct you to the nearest emergency clinic.
Sorry for any inconvenience, if you have any questions or concerns, please give us a call.

‼️‼️CALLING ALL JACK RUSSELL LOVERS‼️‼️

Meet Ashley and Lena, the sweetest mother and daughter pair. Ashley (mom) is 16 years old, and Lena (daughter) is 14 years old, but don’t let their ages scare you away! These two ladies have a lot of s***k in them! They love treats, walk well on a leash, they’re absolute food monsters, and just the sweetest little ladies. They have met other dogs and seem to love everyone, and lived with cats in the past. Ashley is hard of hearing, (closer to completely deaf) but that doesn’t deter her at all. Aside from some hair loss near their back end, these ladies are in excellent health. They’re just looking for a nice comfy bed to live out their retirement.

Ashley is the cutie with the brown ears in the pink sweater, Lena is totally white except for some speckles on her ears

These girls have been together for Lena’s entire life so we are hoping to adopt them out together, however if the right home steps up, we are willing to consider separating them but would really prefer not to.

Hi all-
There was an incident today at the clinic, if you were here 2/7/2024 between approximately 10am and 1pm and saw ANYTHING suspicious, please call the clinic or the Richfield Springs trooper barracks.

3 vehicles were broken into, 2 of which had broken windows, and 3 purses/wallets and all contents are missing. All staff, clients, and animals that were on the property are okay.
