Eureka got a new barn kitty today! His name is Bixby, and he comes to us via the Working Cats program at the Worcester Animal Rescue League. All we know of his history is that he was abandoned in an empty apartment when his owners moved out (I will refrain from expressing my thoughts on leaving an animal like that). Luckily for him, the landlord had the decency to call Worcester animal control, and they brought him to WARL. He wound up in the working cats program because he can nip when overstimulated, which scared off the people who had come to meet him. But he is also very friendly and sociable—just on his own terms…which I totally get…😆

Well, this is unpleasant. Riley, Jess M., Andrew, and Talina all heroically made it to work despite wet, icy, snowy, untreated roads. It took poor Riley an hour and 45 minutes to do a 40 minute drive, just to give you an idea. But they came, bless them! Horses out by 8. We are putting an extra bag of shavings in every stall to keep the horses as comfortable as we can after they come in at 11. Extra love and appreciation for Riley, who will be spending tonight at the farm to help Bob with snow removal and generally keep the farm going! ❤️❣️❤️

Eureka Farm is blessed with great staff. Bob came down early and cleared the paths and driveway. Talina, Jess M., and Andrew braved the crappy, slippery roads to come to work on time. And then they all, under Susie’s leadership, got all the horses out by 8 as usual. ❤️🙏
