Today’s #TuneUpTip discusses sport horse management! There are several small things that you might glance over in the long run, but little scenarios like unbridling or turnout can help educate your upper-level horse to be more manageable in the long-run.
Your horse should stay on the aids whether you’re in the tack or on the ground, and this includes when you go to take off their bridle. Teaching your horse that this should be a positive, relaxed activity in a low-stress environment will only help set him up for success in the future. Unbridling is just one of many tasks that can help reinforce your position as team leader, so your horse knows when to look to you for guidance — whether in the barn aisle at home or over a table at a 4*!

Watch as Jambo and Temmy tackle this cross-country combination side by side under the coaching of the great Ian Stark 🐎💨 Wish us all luck as they head to @terranova_eq this weekend to tackle the 1* and 2*!
Just like the red carpet “Who Wore It Best” trend, we’re putting these two boys to the test, but I’m still feeling in style with my KMA breeches! No matter who I’m riding, I trust @kmaequestrian’s stylish and durable breeches to keep me comfortable and confident on my feisty youngsters 🫣

You may not know that, like people, horses can be left or right-handed! 🙌 Today’s Tune-Up Tip features raised canter poles to help gangly teen Navarrino strengthen both leads and become a bit more ambidextrous 💪Building confidence in both directions is important in both young and seasoned horses, so try setting up some bounce poles with the inside raised on a block. Circling over these at a canter in both directions can help them learn to bend a bit and strengthen each side to become more confident in their leads. If placed every 9 feet, you can even adjust each pass by either going closer to the inside or the outside.Until next time, kick on! 🩵#tuneuptip #tuneuptiptuesday #eventingdressage #dressagetraining #feijudge

A podium for Temmy and a ribbon for Jambo has us leaving Carolina in the best mood! 🥉🏅
It’s back to Ocala for our Blue Clover team until TerraNova before heading back north again, and Jambo and Temmy are clearly ready for a successful season 🐬🧸 Our exciting string of young horses have been going great, and are feeling ready to move up after this fabulous weekend! Keep an eye out, because these boys are ready to go and it’s full speed ahead 🏎️💨💨💨
What a great weekend of learning and training with the best of the best @william.foxpitt ✅
Thanks as always to my friend @sarakoz_equestrian for hosting William at the beautiful Overlook Farm! Moments like these go a long way 🙌
Today’s Tune-Up Tip features TB mare Darter as we learn about raised trot poles!
Our OTTBs definitely take time to trot through raised poles can be tricky for younger or inexperienced horses, especially when working towards the inside (raised) line. It’s all about the footwork! Be patient and let them make mistakes — anything to help them make the correct distances.
Happy practicing to my fellow TB lovers, and until next time, kick on! 🩵
@foxpitte is back! Super excited for WFP to chase me around for a few days and get all my horses and I in gear for @carolinainternationalcci 💪🏻#staytuned
In today’s Tune-Up Tip for our new series, “Salvaging Your Score”, I’m talking you through how to still make the most out of your marks if you need to drop your whip during your test 📈
If your horse gets a little nervous about the whip on show day, you can discreetly drop it and send your groom in to fetch it afterward.
Go with your gut! There’s no reason to have a whip in your test that you’re not going to need — if you feel it coming, chuck it to your groom before you even start!

It’s winter and my horse’s skin is showing it! ❄️
If, like Jambo, your horse is on the more sensitive side, @eqyss MegaTek Equine Rebuilder has been a real help in keeping Jambo comfortable when his skin and coat take a turn for the worse in the winter months. We’ve seen a real difference and are glad to have found a product that works so well with no adverse reactions! 🩵 #sensitiveskin #eqyssgroomingproducts
