Hey Yall,
I had found a new product I had put tp the test this is what I am feeding now to help fatten up the skinny horses. and since yall ask what to feed I Highly reccomend this pelleted feed it works.
I had copied the below info off a website so you can read. We had been feeding this to the mare Rocky, I had brought from Stroud for a little over 2 months 3 xs a day with Alfalfa & grass hay . Its less than $20 .00 a 50 # bag (Depending where you buy.)

If you are looking for a treat for your horses… My horses love them & so do I.
You can get them at Costco. I had found them also on Amazon but. Costco is a tad bit cheaper. Individually wrapped so you can put them in your saddle bags for a treat. for Horses or humans .

Windmaster is my Senior Stallion He is Sire of
Dnnarius and SO Magnivincent.

Windmaster aka Star was shown only once in Halter at Kansas State Fair where he won a 4th place ribbon in the largest class of 47 horses. His Show carreer was cut short because I had developed heart issues and had to stop showing & have surgery. The reason I named him Windmaster is he is named after 2 of the top Women in the Arabian industry helped me to acquire his sire Deep Freeze, which was owned by Mary Ann Grimmell aka MAG which is where I got the ma & Bazy Tankersly of Al Mara Arabians had arranged for me a lunch lease to take Deep Freeze home with me. Tankersly is where the S T E R came from. Windmaster will be 25 years old next January which we are truly blessed that he settled my mares.
I have another purebreed on the way whom is out of ASA Glimmer of Bask She is the youngest granddaughter of *Bask in the world.

Got a wonderful vet to come out and spend Friday the 13th with us. He was a vet for Tulsa Zoo Elephants Rhinos and Hippos . He has his own office now & is in my phone fast dial. He was recommended by our other vet who is a mobil vet Yep Mobil . She has every thing you can think of in that trailer. She can do surgery and x-rays on sight. They were OSU college buddies according to her.
I had 7 horses get their teeth done. I also had everyone get their shots except for Maggie
Also had vet draw some blood out of Rocky for lab work.
What is floating teeth ? Horses teeth develop hooks on their teeth over time and can be painful for them as well as they can not eat their food properly. Horses grind their teeth while eating and wear the teeth down on the top and inside of the teeth developing what we call hooks. The jaws of the horse does not match up and they can not chew their food.There are horses out there who slobber their feed out losing there meals & lose weight. The owners will lose money on feed bills too. When they float teeth they will file the teeth down with a long file that reaches back in their mouth. The horse will be sedated to have their teeth done Its not painful its the noise that spooks them and the time it takes to grind them down.
Once the horse has their teeth done they are fine and can eat their food and regain the weight they had lost in no time.
This is why horses in the wild will get skinny and die out at a younger age. Their teeth grinds down and they can not chew.
Another thing. Elder horses. Lose their teeth , Windmaster still has his. But to keep weight on them, feed them a loaf of bread a day , yep…. works great. So all of you who rescues horses.
So I will be adding a loaf of bread to Windmaster’s diet That horse eats better than I do. LOL but he is worth it.

Training tips
Catching a horse.
�The horses are trained by following cues, but the people need to learn *cues* from the horse or body language as well. �Drop of the head , means he is okay with you in his space. A Hind hoof is cocked means he is relaxed A chew or a sigh Is as if he is saying “ Yes, I understand. ” � A horse will always say hello to you if you allow it. He is a noble creature. So he will wait for you to offer your hand. The head moves towards you. If he exchanges a breath of air with you. He likes you.�
First attempt to walk to the horse ; always make sure the horse knows you are there being an animal of prey. Its just respectful to the horse to say hello so he doesn’t startle & bolt. Walk towards the horse but dont look directly at him in the eye . You always walk towards the shoulder. Horses can see on the side but not directly in front of them.


Catching issue is an easy fix go out to the middle of the pen and sit on the ground curiosity will get to him. And when he comes to you, scratch his muzzle or give him a handful of grain. & leave him do this 3 or 4 times a day & you will soon having him coming to meet you at the gate. When he is at that point. Slip a halter on him & give him a reward & remove the halter. Soon he will be ready to take the halter no problem. Take small steps, never ask a no question & always reward him for doing what is asked. Gradually change the rewards to a good brushing or just a “GOOD BOY” . Don’t use food all the time …& most of all dont bribe the horse. Just use it as the motivator that helps you to break the ice to accomplish communication.

Rescued from Stroud Kill Pen.

�I do not know much about this mare’s past but I know it was possibly not very pleasant to end up in a kill pen. She is safe now as she is mine. She is a registered PUREBREED Arabian mare . & I have her paperwork. Her full name is Illira Rocks Kivonna but I call her Rocky. She was born in 2007. She has a really nice Pedigree Russian , Polish , and Crabbet blood Her sire is a Russian Polish Cross. Her pedigree includes names such as Playkat Su, Le Fire, PortBask, *Serifix, Raffon++ Ferseyn, & Gitana.

�� She is tall 15.1 or 2 Dont have my tape. Her conformation is spectacular with tiny ears, big eyes, beautiful dish head clean throat-latch on an upright neck. She has high withers with a wide chest and a great shoulder, wide hooves, straight legs, angled pasterns for a nice riding horse. A wonderful barrel. Her stride is perfect not short or long strides .

She has a gentle disposition but not for beginners, but it is not her fault. � She has been here for a week now and she is settling in quite nicely . She is still in quarantine for the time being but it is to insure the safety of the others here. �

It is amazing what people do and they use these animals up and throw them away. Me I keep them until God decides otherwise… I am just their caretaker. They not only belong to me … But I belong to them. They say, the Arabian is the only horse who will adopt their owner as their own. Trust me its true.��This is the beginning of her new life where she is loved, **possibly** for the first time in her 15 years on earth.

Friends,
These stickers were on her butt one on each cheek They are glued on with a glob of industrial glue . To those of you who has never rescued a horse out of a kill pen these things are the only source of Identity these horses have. They stay on the horse from first arrival - the day they go in the slaughter stocks.
How do you get them off ? we used wd-40 soak it & they should LIft off after a minute or so. No hair is lost except for when the sticker is applied to he horse & the horse tried to pull it off . After you get the sticker off wash with. Dawn dish soap to get the remaindin soloution off the horse. This mare had been through hell. But now she‘s with me. Once I earn her trust… her heart will be freely given. But it wont be anytime soon because of the trauma she had endured. She is safe

We baled her out 1 day prior to being shipped to Mexico. I couldnt let that be her destiny. A wonderful friend of mine helped me to get her. She was not in my budget so I had talked to the owner of Stroud and told them I wanted her and how much would it take to pull her off. I had just had heart surgery & bought my meds & was broke & explained to him. He cut me a break I sent him $100.00 that Anne had gave me to save her the night before.

Sorry I haven’t been on in a few… I just had surgery .
My Cardiologist said he had to struggle with the pouch because my new pacemaker is larger than the one I had for the past 10 years.
I am under strict restrictions until I heal up
2 # weight limit…
no over doing anything till completely healed.
No getting the area wet for 3 days, then let the water twinkle over the area.
No Lifting arm for 2 weeks.
