One of the joys of the profession is that you never know what type of case or creature you are going to see that day. Last week, Wally the red kangaroo came to us for weight loss and a lump on his jaw.

With lots of help and enthusiasm, we safely restrained and sedated him, then opened a large draining abscess under his jaw. Radiographs confirmed no bony involvement for the infection, which is great news! Wally woke up well and was hopping around the trailer, albeit a little slowly, when he went home that day!

We would like to sincerely thank (now) Dr. Kaitlyn Locke for her hard work, enthusiasm, great attitude, and willingnesss to jump in and get dirty during her preceptorship at our clinic in March and April. Kaitlyn came to us from Auburn University and now practices in Kentucky! Congratulations Kaitlyn, we wish you a lifetime of joy in the greatest profession!

It is almost time for our bi-annual feral cat month. In February, feral and friendly-feral cats can be brought in at any time without an appointment to be fixed and rabies vaccinated at a discounted rate.
The animal's ear will be tipped as a universal indicator that it has been fixed and vaccinated.

We enjoy working with the students, Texas Game Wardens, Haskell County 4-H and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, and local state biologist to put on this great hands-on program for our local youth!
