I found this sound clip on tiktok and it was perfect for these two.
This week, we lost our first puppy.
When we took Glory to the ER vet Thursday, We were told that we had defied odds not losing any puppies until this litter. Instead of growing, she was becoming lighter and weaker. They tried tube feeding, warm water bag, and fluids…but she passed soon after we got her back home. Being a mother myself, I could see Millie’s maternal anguish as she processed the reality that she could not save her baby, and when she looked at us in desperation, it broke my husband and I into a million pieces. I’m told dogs don’t remember their grief for very long like we humans do, but they do grieve, especially mama dogs with their puppies.
For some good news:
The rest of the litter is healthy and growing bigger each day. For that, we are so grateful! Millie still zips into our room like a missile right into my husband’s arms for snuggles in true-Millie fashion. We love her so much.
