Amazing
This farmer couple used silicon to create molds in the shape of their own feet. They then planted turnips using these molds. As the turnips grew, they filled the molds and took on the shape of their feet.

Some of my favorites blooming right now. ๐๐ธ๐
Would you rather receive a random assortment of eggs or have them organized by color?

We are all looking for a solution to reduce w**ds! Like many, I tried landscape fabric as a new gardener and it sure seemed to work greatโฆuntil it didnโt! Much cursing is involved in trying to remove it. Additionally it harms plants, soil, and insects. More here:
-Woven w**d barrier fabrics initially allow some minor oxygen and water exchange to the soil, but eventually become clogged. Lack of oxygen and water to plant roots and soil microbes significantly reduces plant growth.
-Weeds easily germinate on top of the fabric and root into or through it making w**ding more, instead of less, challenging.
-Woven plastic fabrics disrupt the life cycles of many pollinators and other soil invertebrates who need access to bare ground for nesting.
-Eventually falls apart making removal difficult.

Somehow I never noticed that the eggs our Easter egger, Cheeks, lays are actually speckled under the bloom! I had to rinse today's batch of eggs due to mud from all the rain we've been getting and there they were! Normally they're a pretty light green and often have white speckles over the bloom.
We think they're great either way! ๐ Send us a message for more info on hatching eggs. ๐
Some of today's eggs. We love speckles. ๐คฉ

Who lost their mind and bought a ton of Dahlia tubers even though they don't love growing in this climate? Me. It's me. At least they might elevate my egg pictures? ๐
Wish me luck!! I really don't want to kill them.
Introducing our large fowl flock. Our birds mostly come from Color Me Chicken Farms and ETX Gemstone Eggers with the exception of 2-3 birds.
Can you tell which eggs have heavy blooms and which don't?
Our girls are going crazy laying eggs so I think it's the perfect time for a spring egg sale! 1๏ธโฃ5๏ธโฃ/dozen, 2๏ธโฃ0๏ธโฃ/18 pack! ๐ฅ๐ฃ๐ฅ
What kind of layers you can expect: possible heavy blooms, speckles, sky blue, spearmint, sage, olive, gold, and everything in between. ๐๐๐๐ผ
Anyone interested in bantam bobtail cochin chicks or does my husband get his way? 15 per ๐ฅ
Eggs, eggs, eggs! Collecting such pretty ones never gets old.
Also, one of my bantams keeps missing the nesting box somehow. ๐คฆ
The Suns Out! And itโs almost Spring ! Almost time for Garden Therapy! Who Cannot wait for Spring ? Show of hands ๐๐ผ
Who's in the mood for hatching? This warm spring weather is giving us the itch to get out the incubator!
We have about 3 dozen of our special Tide Pool Easter egger mix (with chance of heavy blooms!). All hens are bred to our Cream Legbar rooster, so the offspring will lay anywhere from deep olive green to bright turquoise!
Our Bobtail bantam cochins are laying well enough that we can offer those as well!
PM for more info!
Now that is funny & TRUE sometimes too! ๐๐คฃ

Someone laid their first egg today! I'm so excited because at first I thought I had grabbed the bright blue fake egg that I keep in the nesting boxes, but it's real!! Nothing tops the color saturation of those first eggs!
No filters, completely unedited! Photo taken in natural light coming through our big backyard tree -- you can kind of see the shadows of the branches.
If you guys want colors like these to call your own, you won't have to wait long for hatching eggs. I think I'll call them the Tide Pool mix due to the spectrum of blues and green hues they'll yield. ๐ฅฐ
I'll post updates shortly!
I haven't posted much recently but I wanted to take a second to showcase one of our new layers, Ashley Olsen! She's a multigenerational olive egger.
All 4 eggs in the second photo are from her! I love getting the surprise of different patterns and color variations that she leaves in the nesting box. Heavy bloom eggs are so fun!
I got her from ETX Gemstone Eggers as a day old this summer. I can't wait for her sister, Mary Kate, and our other 2 pullets from them to start laying!
If bison are on the road, be patient, drive slowly, and stay in your vehicle. Wait for bison to move along: do not honk your horn or drive aggressively toward them. That will only make them go slower. A bisonโs level of aggressiveness, both physical and passive, is legendary.

Recent research reveals roosters can recognize themselves in the mirror, indicating they may possess self-awareness.
Other interesting facts discovered include that roosters tend only to make alerts about predators when there are other birds around (to help keep them safe). When they are on their own they won't because it draws attention to themselves.

Clover smorgasbord for the bantam bobtail cochins this evening. ๐๐๐ผ

Love all our fluffy feathered and furry babies. ๐บ๐๐
Blooming at our place so far... ๐๐๐ป
Who has the hatching bug? I'm here to enable your chicken math!
From this dozen you'll get: easter eggers, cream legbar, sage eggers and olive eggers. It's hard to see from the picture, but my splash copper Marans lays nicely speckled eggs(far right). It's a little later in the season so the colors aren't as dark or bright as they could be, but I still love getting these colors in my basket. ๐
No filter, photos taken in shade outside. Let me know if you have any questions!
**All have been rehomed**
Butch, Elvis, and Nano are still looking!
Casper, Butch, Button, Elvis, and Nano are looking for new coops! Anyone looking for a silkie, showgirl, satin, or bantam cochin boy?
Learned something new today!
Have you ever lifted up a rock and found lots of little "rollie-pollies" living in the moist, dark soil underneath? Those humble pill bugs may be one of the most interesting creatures in your garden!
Pill bugs (also called rollie-pollies) and their relative sow bugs (which do not curl up) are more closely related to shrimp and crayfish than insects. They are the only crustaceans that have adapted to living their entire life on land.
Sowbugs and pillbugs are scavengers and feed mainly on decaying organic matter and are important to the regeneration of healthy soils. They are very important decomposers in contaminated soils that many other species cannot tolerate. They rarely damage garden plants.
The next time you lift a rock and see pill bugs, know that they are garden friends doing important work to help keep our soil healthy!

Our little ones chowing down at our all-you-can-eat tomatillo bar. We actually didn't plant any tomatillos this year. We didn't plant anything. Every single plant in our raised bed this year is a volunteer and we are NOT mad about it. They are delicious gift for both humans and poultry. ๐ฅฐ๐๐ฟ๐ฆ
It was our bantams turn to free range this evening. Moira's duck baby is almost as big as she is now! Disclaimer: our birds aren't always this scrappy looking! They're all molting at the moment. ๐
**Update: found a new coop! We have a sweet Cream Legbar cockerel looking for a new coop. Far North Fort Worth/Haslet, TX
Mavis has been hiding her babies since it's been a bit chilly so I set up a heat lamp for them under the coop. No more than 2 minutes after I turned it on, they popped out from under mom to say hi and chow down on crumbles. They're so cute I can hardly stand it! And Momma looks so happy with her babies! ๐
Hand raising happy, loving chickens is a hard, stressful life. Clearly. ๐ I hope the babies we raise bring y'all as much happiness as they do me. ๐ฃ๐๐
I caught our last 2 Easter eggers of the hatch unzipping at the same time. Which one will emerge first? Blue egg or peach egg?
The first Bobtail of this hatch is finally out! I brought these eggs home all the way from Washington State. Welcome to the world, little guy! Sorry your hatchmates are being jerks and pecking at you. ๐๐๐ฃ๐
Our 2 Easter eggers are out! They're just about the cutest things I've ever seen! Happy Easter! ๐ฃ๐๐
