šŸ“Horse Owner Alert!šŸ“

With so much rainfall in Florida, be on the lookout for standing water that can harbor the Pythium insidiosum, which causes pythiosis in horses.

Pythiosis is a life-threatening disease of humans and animals caused by the oomycete Pythium insidiosum. This oomycete pathogen is acquired through open skin after contacting contaminated wet environments, and causes granulating skin lesions.

With responsible for 60% of the recorded infections, early detection is key! If you suspect pythiosis, seek immediate veterinary care.

The UF Large Animal Hospital frequently treats horses with cutaneous pythiosis. Contact us at (352) 392-2229. No referral needed!

What lovely arenas we have! Thanks
Ali for the grooming - they look great and thanks Maria and Van for the help setting up the dressage arena. Iā€™ve been there everyday since Saturday and always run into someone else out with their horse(s). Both arenas are excellent for training or just getting off property with your equine buddy.

šŸ“· TRAILBLAZERS 4-H HORSE CLUB - Do you have an unbridled passion for horses? If so, this 4h club is for you. In the Trailblazers club we will learn all about these majestic animals and along the way the youth will learn all about leadership, team work, planning and finances. We will be taking field trips to equestrian facilities so there will be fundraising, and we will also be volunteering at local horse events such as horse shows, clinics, trail rides, etc. Youth must be 8-18 years old by September 1, 2024 in order to join this club. Meetings will be held on the first Thursday of every month at 6:30pm in the Wind Mitigation building, 3111 Agricultural Center Drive, St. Augustine (across the lake from the Ag Center). Horse or no horse, take the reins and contact Gretchen Huddleston at [email protected] for more information.
If you are a current 4-H member, and want to join the new club, you will need to email Kellie Anderson and let her know to add the Trailblazers to your profile. [email protected]
If you are not a current member, and you would like to register for the Trailblazers, go to: https://v2.4honline.com log into your original family profile and re-enroll.
