Animal Ark is a Minnesota-based animal welfare organization. We embrace and follow a no-kill philosophy in our work to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home Minnesota’s lost and homeless companion animals. With staff providing basic medical care and keeping of our shelter animals, a dedicated group of volunteers provides the next level of care, making the rehabilitation of these wonderful animals possi
ble. Our volunteers provide needed socialization for the companion animals living at the shelter, focusing on the needs of the individual animal based on his or her personality. Happy Adoption Day, Jasper! Jasper is a male, 4-year-old, Goldendoodle Mix. Jasper came to Animal Ark in early April. Shortly thereafter, this terrific family saw his picture online and just knew they had to meet him. Jasper quickly won over their hearts, and they took him in as a foster to adopt. We are elated to share that Jasper's integration into the home went well and he is officially adopted! Happy life!

What a joyful day we had at Animal Ark! We are grateful to everyone who supported our No-Kill mission by joining our biggest fundraising event. Your presence and support have truly made a difference. We also want to express our heartfelt thanks to all the friends and family who came together, creating a strong sense of community and togetherness. We miss you, Jessica. We loved seeing all our alumni and the amazing families they are now a part of. A special thank you to our beautiful volunteers who gave their time selflessly to our vendors and sponsors who, with their contributions, made the event truly special.

Cat of the Week- Trixie
Hello--I'm Trixie, a 1 1/2 year-old long-haired tabby and white female who found myself homeless when my family moved and didn't take me along. A kindly neighbor realized my predicament and contacted the shelter. During the short time they knew me, I made myself right at home and was described as cuddly, playful and affectionate, especially with their daughter. Much of my background is unknown, so staff are not sure about my attitude toward other cats and dogs. Please come meet me if you think I might be the "purr-fect" addition to your family.

Dog of the Week- Emmy
My name is Emmy short for Emerson and I am ready to slowly meet your acquaintance. You might have looked at my breed and thought that someone got it WAY wrong, but I have actually gotten a DNA test done and I am 27% German Shepherd, 8% Australian Cattle Dog, 8%Siberian Husky, 7% Border Collie, 6% Miniature Pinscher and 19 other breeds! I am a sweet girl that can be a bit shy at first and I am just 2-years-old. I came into Animal Ark because I was not being friendly with the other dog in the home, so I should be the only dog in my future home. I also lived with a cat, but we got along just fine! Once I know you, I love to give hugs, hold your hand and receive scratches (particularly around my neck). My favorite toys include anything that squeaks and footballs! Side note, I'm great at catch and potty trained! It might take me a few visits to warm up to you, but I promise I'm worth it!

At Animal Ark, we rescue hundreds of cats and kittens each year, and our 3K walk is aimed at raising funds for both our feline and canine rescues. Happy Adoption Day, Lyla! Lyla is a female, 6-year-old , Pharaoh Hound Mix. Lyla originally came to Animal Ark from a rescue in Oman when she was just 1-year-old. Lyla was adopted and then returned to the Ark in March of 2024 when her family was no longer able to care for her. Last weekend, Troop 58012 of the Girl Scouts, River Valley, returned to Animal Ark to volunteer their time. They spruced up the Ark’s dog parks, filled the bird feeders, and donated food and supplies for the rescues. The morning wouldn't have been complete without giving love and attention to a few of our cats and dogs.
