Puppy management tip of the day…always have 👀 on the puppy or use a crate! A lot of chewing and potty accidents happen when people need to do people things…like shower. Cora and Mister co-lesson was a success! Bringing two different styles of meeting can take some serious management from the handlers but can sometimes work. As long as their actual play style (one they get acquainted) is a match it is sometimes worth the effort. Here is one of my favorite tips for hiking with a dog: To balance freedom for your dog to do some extra sniffs without being an asshole, you can toggle from a shorter to a longer lead. Heck you can even sometimes use a retractable leash (for dogs that already have good recall and a few other factors). So watch, learn, and don’t be the person that has their dog off-leash in an on-leash space and yells “he’s friendly!!!”. Meanwhile the dog barrels towards you and your dog. Yup that asshole. Just don’t do it. Working on some self control and calling out of play with Bandit. He is a VERY friendly happy boy but can get a little mouthy with his play style. Prue doesn’t mind too much but other dogs may, so we’ll just do a little cleanup on his play manners.
