We've had a busy last few days getting ready for the Washington County Fair!!!! 🤣
So so lucky to have such wonderful horses that take care of my littles! Blake is 4 and has been riding since he was 2 when we got Pone Pone. He has upgraded to a big horse and this was his first ride that he rode all by himself the whole time without me leading him ❤❤❤ It's going to be a fun summer!!
I offer Tiny Tot lessons for kids that haven't started kindergarten (or under age 5) to help build their confidence and learn basic horse skills before they are able to ride by themselves. It's been fun to teach the really little kids. Not many barns take the time to fit this age group into their programs!
If anyone actually knows me, you will know how RARELY I say a horse is kid or beginner safe. Well, HERE HE IS! Cisco is beginner kid tested and Trainer approved! My lesson horse is injured and this kind gentleman stepped up to the plate and did everything his little riders asked!

Seasoning your colts at home 101:
Warm up like you would at a race.
Make a run. Don't practice the pattern or do any barrel drills before.
Walk the pattern.
Decide if you absolutely need to fix anything... if no, walk the pattern a few times and call it quits. If yes, tune a little, make another run.
Walk the pattern.
I have always done this with my colts and now more than ever since it's my only option. If you watch all the way to where I walk the pattern in this video you can see I'm not just lazily walking through. I am actively riding and guiding him where he needs to go. I am a HUGE fan of walking the pattern. You can feel your holes in your riding and your horses holes in the pattern at a walk just as good as you can going fast, if not better. At a walk you can instill good habits right there. My colt tends to want to start his turn on second just a hair too early so that's why I stopped him and kicked his hip out to make him think about staying round right there instead of sneaking in too close.
After I made this video I got off and watched it. Since I am not going to be actually entering anytime soon I decided to be happy with it so I got back on and I walked the pattern a few more times. If I was going to be entering in a few days I probably would try to go faster and clean up third a little he came by just a hair. I also would have spent some time working on second to be sure our timing was together. But, since we aren't entering for at least another week and I've been working him hard on drills all week I decided to leave him be and save some more runs for tomorrow.
This is only his second cruise through since before my maternity leave, the previous time was a month ago. Let me tell you, I was nervous as all get out. It felt like I was going up the alley at the NFR for how excited and worked up I was. Luckily all my fears and self doubt were just thoughts as my hard work and consistency paid off and we had a beautiful little run. I can't wait t
This cute little gelding has been in for some training on the barrels. He is really starting to figure things out!
Super fun little gelding I've had in for a barrel tune up! I like how he's turning out!
Have been having such a great last few weeks! Getting lots of time on my training horses hauling to lots of different arenas and trails. Also really booking my schedule full with group lessons. Today topped the cake when I brought my 4yo futurity prospect Zuba along for a lesson and cruised him through in the rain with hardly any practice on the pattern before hand besides using him to demonstrate things for my lesson gals. He rocked his run even if hes only going 3/4 speed. 2020 can not come fast enough! Thanks gals who came out today and beared through the rain the last half hour of the lesson! You guys are great!
Last chance to buy Rose!!!! She's going to be taken off the market next week if she doesn't sell!!! 4yo own daughter of strait firewater!!! Asking $six500
Got a really cool update on a mare I put a tune up on for the barrels and poles and sold on consignment back in 2017. "Miss Violets a Tramp" and her new owner Marisa Hynnek have been having some awesome success together and just recently qualified for the National Finals for National Little Britches Rodeo in both barrels and poles! This video is of them placing 2nd in the youth 1D at a recent race.
💜 So proud of your hard work, congrats on your success and thank you for the update! 💜
