We hear this all the time!

“My dogs walks well… until there’s another dog, person, tree, etc”

“My dog comes back sometimes, but if they see another dog for they escape the yard/house, then we can’t get them back”

“My dog loves everyone! But sometimes they jump, scratch, nip, hump.”

You get the point!

Those “until” situations are when your dogs obedience matters the most! It is in the situations when people will decide they need to seek out professional training because they just can’t take it anymore!

We are very big on putting your dogs in multiple different scenarios and making sure that they still listen. Regardless of the distractions they encounter.

Your dog will be able to walk perfectly regardless of the other dogs, people, or trees that use to set them off.

They will be able to reliably recall regardless of whether you’re at the beach, at home, a pet friendly store, or if there’s other dogs or people around.

We encourage you to continue taking your dog to different places outside of your home and utilizing the training! Make sure that there is never an “until” situation again!

There will be times when your dog needs a reminder, and that’s ok! We will teach you how to properly utilize the training so you if they get distracted, you can quickly get them back on track:)

We hear this all the time!!!

We will put your dog in many different situations so no matter what distraction comes along, they SHOULD still listen to you. They may need a reminder, but we will teach you how to do that and how to utilize the training:)

This is why we encourage you to take your dogs out to different places when they finish our board and train.

If your dog can walk perfectly, recall reliably, down without breaking because someone looked at them, (which they will be capable of doing when they are finished with us), in all situations, then you’re dog will never have that “until” excuse again!

For most people, the idea of their dog being able to do these things at the beach, pet friendly stores or Cafes, and other places outside of their house, is a nice dream… but not a reality.

We will show you that you can have those things with your dog! You just need to upkeep it when they come home!

Luna was so good at the park today!

She loves birds, so we did some recall away from birds and we worked on her obedience in different locations. If you want to be able to take your dog anywhere and trust, then you need to go to many different locations and practice. Behind every well trained dog is countless hours of work.

This sweet girl is so gorgeous!
This is Luna. She is a 10 month old, Assie husky mix. She is so sweet but needs some confidence building as well as a good obedience foundation.

We are excited to see Luna progress and for her to be trained so that she can have more freedom. She is a mix of two high energy breeds so it will be great for her to be trained so her owners can more easily take her to the beach and on adventures.

We often hear this from people that are seeking out training.

You probably didn’t do everything you were told to do. Neither did your kids. Why are we expecting dogs, which are animals that we allow to live with us, to be the exception and listen just because you said so?

If we lived in our own little bubble, where no other dogs, people, scents, animals etc… didn’t exist, then maybe your dog would listen to you 100% of the time.

As nice as that sounds, that isn’t an option for most of us. Your dog will have times that they will blow off your recall because they got distracted, or they jumped on their “favorite” relative because that relative likes it, or they blow off their down stay because they decided they’re just done.

This is why we use our tools and why it’s important you continue using them. We as trainers will teach you how to use it correctly, and your dogs will be trained to understand that when they do decide to blow you off, the e-collar will be used as a correction to remind them to listen.

Koa has gone home, but she definitely loved playing in the stream while she was here for her board and training.

The last week of the board and train is the best because we had to take the dogs to different places like the stream, beach and store. We do this to test their obedience and teach them how to behave in public.

Koa had a great time at the beach the other day!

She is learning how to listen to commands around distractions.

One of the biggest comments we get is “that my dog listens in the house, but not when we are in public, or when people come over or when anything gets distracting”. A lot of times if you use positive only training your dog will listen really well under low distractions but once the distraction becomes more valuable than the food reward the training fails. This is where ecollar training comes in. The great thing about ecollar training is that you have multiple levels and you can tailor the levels to where your dog is mentally. If they are more distracted, the levels go up. If they are less distracted, the levels go down. This is why ecollar training is so beneficial to you and your dog because it gives you the ability to work your dog under high distractions and essentially gives you the ability to take your dog everywhere once they are trained!

Hi! Mrs Koa, the three year old sheepadoodle is doing great at her place command. She has been with us for a week and a half and is making great progress on all her commands.

She has also been doing some socialization. She had some bad experiences with a German shepherd in the past, so we have been working her around our German shepherd, Karl. Not all dogs love every dog but they do need to learn how to coexist around other dogs.

It is also important that owners learn how to advocate for their dog. Advocating for your dog looks different with each dog depending on their needs. But if you have a dog that is dog selective (Meaning they don’t love every dog.) you will watch their body language,and if they are uncomfortable, remove them from the situation with the other dog or create space. Also, it’s important to note that if you cannot control the other dogs behavior, it is best not to let them interact. Unfortunately, most dogs that you meet on walks or at dog parks are not under control and because you can’t control their behavior because of that it is best to find other ways to socialize your dog.

Mabel is working on her duration down right now and is doing great! With her big dog energy, she settles right into that down.

Duration down it’s very important if you plan on taking your dog anywhere. We use it constantly when we are out on dog training adventures.

I feel like a lot of people expect their dogs to lay down and behave in public when they don’t practice those same things at home. How is your dog able to lay down on command in public when they don’t stay in a down on command at home?

A lot of people let their dogs get away with everything and run the roost at home and are then surprised that their dog doesn’t listen to them when they’re out and about.… why would they?

To get the great results we want out in public we have to do the work at home. This means practicing 2 hour down stay’s at home so we can go to a baseball game or cafe and get a good down stay.

Training starts at home in the moment that we don’t think matter!

Inexpensive puppies in Utah!

if you know if somebody who is looking for a puppy please let me know!

My grandma was recently diagnosed with cancer, and my mom who is raising this litter of puppies for me in Utah needs to find good homes for them ASAP! So she can have time with her mom.

They are very sweet! They are Bernedoodles but most of them didn’t get the Bernedoodle coat so they will shed. But on a positive note, you won’t have to spend as much time or money on grooming.

Mom and dad are both health tested and clear. And they both have wonderful, sweet, loving temperaments.

These two were so well behaved when we went out to get shaved ice. They stated it down while other people walk by.

Our goal is for our dogs to be able to live more fulfilling lives by being will behaved. This allows them to go places they might not otherwise be able to go. A well trained dog is a free dog.

Kuda and Elsa did so good at Home Depot yesterday 👍. We must have gone at the busiest time because there were people everywhere but they did so good!

I also want to mention a little bit about the first picture. Elsa has her head laying down on the ground. A lot of people when they see a dog with their head on the ground think the dog is sad or something is wrong. This is an idea that we need to change! A dog with their head down is a calm dog it is not sad or worried it is calm.

We live in a world where anxious hyper over reactive dogs are the norm and calm dogs are the exception. A calm dog is a rarity thus when your dog is being eel behaved people think it is broken. It is not a broken dog, but rather a mentally stable one.

Let’s make calm stable dogs the norm!! we can do this through structure, exercise, and training.

How do you know when your dog is going to lung, bark, bite or be reactive?

One thing all of these have in common is that they can all be predicted by Loading. Loading comes before pretty much all reactive and aggressive behavior. It also proceeds barking and a lot of times playing.

You can tell when your dog is loading because they will stare intently. If their ears are normally down, they will come up, their head will usually drop a little and their mouth will close.

When we are rehabbing a dog with leash reactivity, we will correct the reactivity, and then we will focus on correcting this loading behavior.

When getting rid of reactivity, timing is key!!!

If you correct, the loading at a high enough level the dog won’t react. Basically, you are correct in the thought of exploding rather than the actual explosion.

Keep in mind all dogs load but not all dogs are reactive. So if your dog is not reactive, you don’t have to be as vigilant at correcting the loading stage.

Chica when to the beach today! Normally we start the training out on the grass area and work on some recall. As you can see in this picture, she is sitting on a table. This is to build confidence.

We worked a lot on being calm around a lot of people at the beach today. Most dogs know how to be crazy and know how to play but they don’t know how to be calm so that’s what you want focus on first. The playing can come after they have learned how to be calm.

Welcome Teddy! This handsome guy is here for help with his separation anxiety, jumping, and overall to learn to be a better dog:)

His separation anxiety is so bad, that his owners have had to put him on trazadone, and have to wake up at 4am to do so, otherwise we barks incessantly in the kennel.

It’s amazing that there are so many people that struggle with something similar, and many people will say to just not kennel him… problem solved.

Except it’s not. Many people don’t have the luxury of having a dog that can just lounge around while you leave. Many dogs will destroy things and eat it, potentially causing fatal injuries.

So instead, you just don’t leave. Not only is your dog limiting your ability to live your life!! You’re making his separation anxiety worse.

We have a simple fix for this that doesn’t involve you having to limit your life, in fact, it makes it so you can take your dog out with you and it’s not an out of control mess.

Train your dog! Correct the unwanted behaviors, and teach the ones you do want.

We are going to use an e collar to correct the barking in the kennel, and we are going to use that same e collar to teach Teddy how to be the best he can be.

Welcome Chica!

As you can see by this photo of her waiting for direction, she is intent on learning everything! She is a sweet girl who loves everyone but she loves a little TOO hard sometimes. She loves to jump, pull and chase things. We are excited to work with her and get her obedience on point so that she can go places with her family.
