Update: Foster has been found. Thank you!

Calling all foster kitty parents! We have a community member that has a bottle baby they need help with. They say the kitten is approximately 2 weeks old. Mama has abandoned the baby when it was discovered during home renovations and refuses to take it back and they need someone with bottle baby experience to take the kitten. The kitten has been drinking formula for them. We request experienced people with bottle babies only please reach out if you have some extra time the next few weeks to take in this baby. Please call 309-543-3321 if you have some time for this baby.

Update: at the very last second, a Good Samaritan stepped in to give this dog a chance. This girl was terrified and completely shut down with us and the outcome was not great. But, because a member of our community couldn’t stand to see this girl suffer, she reached out and this girl is safe at a shelter until a rescue can be put in place. She was a completely different animal once she got to her new space and even allowed her rescuer to give her a bath and gave her kisses. Because a member of the community took a chance, this girl has an opportunity to have a home. If you have the ability to foster, do so. It can save a life and give another dog a second chance.

Update: this dog is STILL at the Havana Police Department. We know somebody owns her. So, if you are missing your dog or know of someone missing this dog, please come and pick it up. When I say the shelters are full, I’m not lying. She is not very large and not very friendly. We cannot keep her indefinitely in a small kennel so we ask that if she is yours, please come get her.

Found at circle k. Please go to Havana PD to claim.

Happy Trick or Treat! 2024 Downtown Trick or Treat is over and we had a great time. Although we didn’t have a lot of people in our parade down to City Hall, we had a great time and our parade marshal, Miss Evelyn in her Minnie Mouse costume led the way. Thanks to everyone that participated and we hope to add to the numbers next year.

10/22/2024

Reminder: this Friday (10/25/2024) is downtown trick or treat here in Havana. Our short, Kids and Kritters costume parade will start behind behind TBK bank in the parking lot. If your child would like to participate, please meet us there between 4 and 4:15 pm. We will be led by our Parade Marshal pooch down Main and it will end in just a few blocks at City Hall, which is stop number 1 at downtown trick or treat.

Children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

No adults without children or pets in the parade are allowed to attend.

No vehicles, ATVs, bikes, or skateboards. Strollers and pull wagons are welcome.

You are responsible for your pets. If your animal cannot handle the parade or the downtown event, you will be asked to leave. Clean up your pets messes. No animals will be allowed into the downtown businesses, including City Hall.

We hope there are a lot of children or pets in costumes attending this event and we can’t wait to see everyone there! If you have any questions at the event just look for the witch in the purple tutu skirt.

Please continue to vote on our grand marshal below. The winner will be announced at Noon on Friday!

Update: he has been found and is safe with his family. Thank you for the shares!!

I have a dog that got loose sometime last night from the East side of Havana. He is dark brown with light brown markings like a Doberman. He hasn’t ever been out so he might be unpredictable. If you see him out running, please give us a call so we can contact his owner. If you see him, do not approach him. Just give us a call at (309)543-3321 and let us know where you see him. Thank you!

Update: Madam has found a place among her own poultry kind outside of town. We had so many people willing to take her. The outpouring of people who would take a chance on a hen that is clearly not a people person really surprised us. Thank you all. We are hoping for a quick transition for her and that since she pretty much looks exactly like her new sisters, they won’t even realize she just arrived.

This girl led me through an hour long chase across 5 yards, through sticker bushes, poison ivy and a very dense and angry hedge bush. Thank you to Chief Hindahl and the original caller for helping to corral this lady. She is safe and unharmed but I feel quite the opposite. Not everyone is meant to chase down poultry. If you own chickens and you live around the area of Pearl and Randolph or you know someone keeping chickens in this area, give me a call so we can figure out what to do about this girl and any chicken friends she might have.

Per Havana Ordinance, you cannot keep chickens within Havana city limits.

Is anyone missing kittens? A mother cat with kittens was hit in the roadway by circle k and a kind person picked up the kittens that were with her. We have 2 of the kittens here at the Police Department. They are friendly and seem like they have been handled. The kittens are currently at Mason County Pets Without Parents.

Update: owner has picked him up.Picked up at Oktoberfest. If he is yours please claim him at Havana PD.

As part of the downtown Trick-or-Treat spirit, Havana Animal Control wants to join in on the fun and will be holding a Kids and Kritters Downtown Halloween Parade march. This is a parade for the kids and Kritters to show off their brilliant costumes for the community as they march to their first downtown trick-or-treat stop at City Hall.

We will be having a costumed pet friend be the grand marshal of our parade and to determine which friend that might be, we ask that you please email us a photo of your pet in costume. Past or present costumes apply. We will post all of the photos to Facebook and let the community decide by likes who they want their grand Kids and Kritters Parade Marshal to be. Send photos with yours and your pets names to: [email protected] by October 4th so we can have time to post all photos and let the public decide who will lead the children to that sweet downtown Halloween candy!

Our parade will be a short route and all kids in costumes are allowed. Children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult. Children over 11 are allowed to attend the march unaccompanied but we do ask that they remain courteous of others or they will be asked to leave the parade. There are to be no vehicles, ATVs, skateboards or bikes in this parade so as to keep everyone safe. Strollers and pull wagons are welcome. No adults without Kids or Kritters will be allowed in the parade.

Starting location is to be determined at this time but will not be more than 2-3 blocks. We will update once we determine an exact route. This parade is open for any child wishing to attend downtown trick-or-treat and is not limited to the City of Havana.

ALL ANIMALS MUST BE UNDER CONTROL AT ALL TIMES DURING DOWNTOWN TRICK OR TREAT. ALL ANIMALS MUST BE ON A LEASH AND UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF A RESPONSIBLE PERSON OR IN AN ENCLOSED PET STROLLER. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR PICKING UP YOUR ANIMALS WASTE.
