Injuries never happen at an “opportune moment”. Just weeks before we were supposed to dance down centerline at USDF Region 3 Championships, Charley sustained a soft tissue injury jury in his hoof. We had to sit out Regionals and he went on stall rest. After 30 days of rest, we did not receive the news we had hoped for. Our next step is to continue stall rest and take a trip to Ocala to have an MRI done so we can get answers. Will this be a permanent career ending injury? Does he need 30-90 more days of rest? Can he tolerate more time cooped up in a stall? There are so many variables and no one way to do rehab. Thankfully, Stressless is on hand for the days that are too much for Charley. It will help keep him calm and relaxed while stalled and on hand walks. We can afford shenanigans that could slow the healing process!

Charley is two weeks into his 4 weeks of stall rest. We will evaluate his soundness on October 8 and see if he’s good to tackle walk for 30 days. He’s handling the stalling well but has torn off 3 out of 4 bell boots by playing with them. Guess it’s time to order a jolly ball and new bell boots!

Iron Star Equestrian is forming the first IEA Dressage Team in the state of Florida! Do you have a middle school or high school age rider wanting to join a team sport? Riding Programs in Florida, Alabama and South Georgia! Do you teach dressage? Do you have middle and high school age riders? Want to do a little more for to prep them for a collegiate riding career? Have you looked at IEA?

You don’t need to own or even BRING a horse to the shows! It’s a draw as to what horse you ride. There are levels for every rider! National winners receive college scholarships! Help your riders build their equestrian resume!

The 2024 USDF FEI Trainers Conference was absolutely inspiring. Sven Rothesburger and Sabine Schute-Kerry said a LOT of things that got me excited to get to work but the biggest message they sent out was this: Whatever you do, do it well. Everything. Every transition, every circle, every line. Do it to the absolute best of your ability. You’re always either training or untraining. If you get sloppy, you’re untraining. Ride everything for an 8!

I woke Mr Cajun up from his nap to go outside.
He is currently rehabbing a mechanical founder that was discovered shortly after purchase (still kicking myself for not doing a PPE 🤦‍♀️).

This sweet 4yo OTTB gelding has been on GutX since day 1 of his arrival and his demeanor about 3 months of stall rest has been fantastic! His tummy is happy, even though he’s stuck on rest.

We have been given the go-ahead to start with light turn out so I am hoping to see this dude flourish and settle into a low level dressage career.

Have you had to put a horse on stall rest and they became very angry? It could be belly aches from the stress. GutX had been the best thing for this fella.
