I feel the need to have an educational post and give credit to those who are passionate about their animals. Please take note that some of this is fact and some is personal opinion.

I always have and always will support those who run rescues/shelters AND those who breed ethically, conscientiously and are intentional about their purpose. Yes…I can and do support BOTH! I DO NOT support puppy mills and uneducated/unethical breeders.

A good rescue knows their stuff and is passionate about finding loving homes for the puppies they rescue (usually from mills or unethical breeders). They see the worst of the worst and love them unconditionally. And I applaud them…some days are tough. They drive miles and miles and never know what they will be bringing home. They love the unloved puppies and dogs and provide them everything they need and more. They know if they don’t take these puppies, many will not survive.

A good breeder also knows their stuff. Before choosing a dog for their program,
*they know the lines, health testing and genetics of each one.
*they have each dog go through extensive health and genetic testing (yes, they are 2 different things.
*they evaluate structure and temperament
*they take courses, learn how to do things the right way.
*they stand behind their puppies by offering lifetime breeder support, a genetic guarantee and a commitment to take back any puppy at any time for any reason to ensure their puppies do not end up in shelters and rescues.

Both groups work endlessly and tirelessly. They both experience heartbreak and question if they can keep going because the heartache affects them deeply and the thought of enduring it again seems impossible at times. Each has missed numerous family events or doesn’t really take vacations due to their commitment. But…they also see the smiles, the wagging tails, puppy kisses and a sense of accomplishment. The look on the faces of the families is priceless and both groups feel such joy. It IS worth it.

My point is this…..when I get repeated comments about “adopt, don’t shop” and my business and all of the other breeders who do it the right way are scolded and hated on….I can’t always keep my mouth shut. I can advocate for those who do what I do. And guess what? I can advocate for those who assist at shelters and rescues. We have the same common goal, really.

We have raised many dogs who have become service or therapy dogs, we work with other breeders, we have dogs who are forever a part of great families who need to know the background, heath and/or genetics of their dogs…it may be because they have young children and need to know how the puppies are raised or they have allergies.

Whatever the reason and whatever the personal choice of each individual….I support them. It is up to each of us to make our own personal decisions. That is called an opinion. We are all entitled to them, but I do not condone bashing someone’s opinion. Please…just take a step back and be supportive of those who take their role seriously and do it correctly. Call them what you want…rescue/shelter volunteer, ethical breeder, person with a big heart who wants the best for dogs and puppies everywhere. ❤️

The 4 week old reveal is here…and these little ones are DARLING! They are on the move, eating like champs and love to play!

Update: He has found a home. Thank you everyone for the influx of messages! We have two more older puppies (one is a sibling to Rocky) that I will be posting shortly.

We have a puppy that has been returned to us to find a new home. The previous owner has some medical complications with lots of appointments and she is wanting someone with more time for him. Rocky is an F1B goldendoodle born on 12/20/23. He is great with kids, other animals in the home, and is potty/crate trained. The owner says he is gentle on a leash and very polite. He was just groomed last week and deserves a great new start! Send me a message if you’re interested in meeting him.

Eating is SERIOUS business for Benelli’s babies. Since all 10 puppies are gaining well, we started them on puppy mush to help Mama out. They were moved from the puppy nursery to the living room and will start to experience a training curriculum to make them confident and secure. At least 2 of these puppies will be hopeful facility dogs and we want to give them all a great start. Stay tuned for individual pictures coming soon.

Pippa (Fergie’s green collar girl) joined her new family about a week ago. I don’t think she took more than a minute to settle right in and make herself at home. She has a canine brother, Charlie, and loves to steal his toys. Her mom and dad are pretty smitten with her! Congratulations to the Joyce family!

Benelli’s beauties are ONE WEEK old! They have all doubled their birthday weight and mama is taking great care of them. We are about half way through their ENS/ESI activities and they are breezing right through it.

Each of them are able to scoot around quite well and are trying to get up on all fours. There is just something about newborns that just melt my heart!

Friday night I was called away to help my daughter, Hannah, when she was being induced to have her new baby. Later that evening Jim called to say that Benelli was acting like she was getting ready to have her puppies.

I brought my grandson back to our house and overnight, Benelli had 10 beautiful and healthy puppies. As soon as they were born, we headed back to Hannah’s, which is an hour away, to take care of her animals.

That afternoon, Hannah delivered our beautiful granddaughter, Magnolia June! I stayed with their son until they came. home Sunday evening. Despite having absolutely no sleep Friday night, we made it through the weekend…and would do it all again, if needed!

So thankful to be able to spend this precious time with family and I am super excited to be able to be with our mamas when they bring new puppies in this world.

I finally got to check them over after work today and get a few pictures of the puppies.

A little sneak peek at what we were doing from 3:02-6:02 this morning!  10 healthy puppies! Five boys and five girls. We have quite a bit on our plate this weekend so I will get more pictures and details later.

EEK! Benelli had her X-ray today and we can see lots of little ones! We are feeling pretty confident that we see TEN!

It is exciting knowing that this litter will be the third generation of puppies from FGD from both parents. Our stud, Benny is Benelli’s dad, and Tillie and Frampton are Brim’s parents. We can’t wait to meet them!!!
