Dental health snapshot! This feline friend came to visit us for a routine dental check and cleaning. During the anesthetized oral exam, this large defect filled with blood and granulation tissue was noticed on the lingual aspect of this molar, way in the back of the mouth! A smaller similar defect was noted on the mesial aspect of the tooth just behind the healthy tooth in front of it. These are feline resorptive lesions, which are circled on the following radiographs. These lesions are very painful when they occur, and why we recommend every cat receive annual professional dental services. The extraction site should heal within 2 weeks, and no more pain for this cat 🐱.
