🐍 Snakebite Safety for Pets: Be Prepared, Not Panicked
Whether you're hiking the trails or relaxing in your backyard, venomous snakes like rattlesnakes and copperheads can pose a serious threat to your pets. Dogs and cats are naturally curious and may not recognize the danger until it's too late.
Know the Signs of a Snakebite:
🐾Sudden swelling (often on the face or limbs)
🐾Bruising or bleeding at the bite site
🐾Lethargy, vomiting, or collapse
🐾Visible puncture wounds (though not always easy to spot)
What to Do Immediately:
Keep your pet calm and still to slow venom spread.
✔️Do not apply ice, heat, or tourniquets.
✔️Do not attempt to suck out the venom.
✔️Seek emergency veterinary care immediately.
