You might be able to see Malena out in the center of Great Meadow during Gold Cup in the dip near the pond, standing on top of her rig watching the race through her binoculars.

HELLO FROM ELIZA

She’s outside for the first time in almost a month. I think you can tell by the expression on her face just how happy she is.

She’s come a long way from blind, stumbling and with a bladder about to burst from being unable to empty it for sure…

Another thank you to the wonderful veterinarians who never gave up Eliza.

You don’t know how far you can go, if you don’t take that first step.

Enjoy that sunshine sweet girl!

ELIZA UPDATE

After surviving and BEATING EHM thanks to help of her veterinarians at EMC, Miss Eliza is BUSTING OUT of the hospital and is headed to a rehab center (under state vet approval for QT) for the next step in her process.

She’s regained her vision.

She’s regained her balance.

And at last, she’s fully regained control of her bladder.

Our girl is one step closer to coming home.

She walked onto the trailer like a champion. Our girl is ready to show them what’s she made of— and it’s stronger than steel.

This is why CCR, with the help of our tremendous medical team, fights so hard for these horses.

All it takes is one person to believe the impossible is possible, and try.

We will never stop trying for these horses, and our vets won’t either.

LFG, ELIZA!!!!

Wishing all of these babies the BEST life ahead!

Treating a sick foal is a challenge in itself but when they arrive one after the other in quick succession and are completely unhandled feral foals it adds a whole different level of complexity! Six weanling foals were transported to the Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center (EMC) for emergency....

CIRCLES UPDATE

Here is an update on Circles Survivor, the horse I personally witnessed get kicked in the head by another horse and fall down and have a seizure.

Our guy is en route to a veterinary rehabilitation center via equine ambulance. There are a lot of moving pieces to moving a horse with a TBI in a horse trailer and it required a three veterinarian intervention team, a hospital specific horse trailer and a lot of patience.

Circles struggled walking up the ramp (normal as he’s been stalled for 6 weeks and is weak in muscle mass) and fell to his knees on the first go. We had to delay his transport, work him in the pasture over small raised poles to get him stronger. And yes the very busy vet team at EMC worked on this with him for several days on top of all the other miracles they work. At every turn I think a normal vet clinic would call it, and they just dig a little deeper— work a little harder to save a life.

For a horse like Circles, one that no one wanted and rejected again and again— that means everything.

Today, we tried again and he walked right up.

He’s safely in the hands of a very experienced physical therapy team (led by a veterinarian) that specializes in neurological disorders. Over the next few months (3-6) he will work on regaining everything he lost from his TBI.

Everything in his recovery process is entirely up to him now.

But I can tell you one thing— he won’t be fighting alone.

Well I was pretty happy that one of my overdue mares foaled at a decent hour of 10:20 tonight! But not to be outdone, the mare 2 stalls down decided to make it another twofer foaling party at 11:15 3 days ahead of schedule! 2 foals in an hour is a new record for me!
