🥀💔SOMEONE, STOP THE HEARTBREAK💔🥀

I cannot watch Honey get her heart broke, one more time.

Honey is one of our Lonely Heart Cats. She is young and a gorgeous cat, but she is hesitant to be friends with humans.

I noticed Honey would always watch other cats with such interest. So to help her feel less lonely, I introduced her to some of our other friendly cats. While most cats when they first meet each other may hiss and growl before they become friends, Honey wants to jump right into friendship. She always runs right up to them with heart eyes.

However, Honey is beginning to think she is cursed. Every friend she gains gets adopted as soon as they meet..
Nala was another lonely hearts cat with no interest. A few days after her and Honey met, Nala was adopted. The same situation with BiBi..
I just introduced Marco Polo and her this morning and right away after we opened, he was adopted.

I love that our cats are getting adopted, but I hate that Honey is suffering not only the loss of her friends, but getting left behind…

If you have a friendly cat and would love to add another, Honey is perfect! She will come around to humans and will learn to love them if she has a confident cat to teach her!

The great Marco Polo has finished his vast explorations of the Silk Road and is ready to settle down!

Marco Polo was a stray brought in by Animal Control. This BIG boy is soooo loving and social!
I guarantee if you come out and holler “Marco!” You’ll hear him respond “Polo!” Though it may sound more like a meow.. But you get the point.

It’s a curious wonder where Marco Polo has been! He is a mature cat that is around the age of 7 give or take a few years. He is neutered and very well mannered!

Marco Polo is definitely a been there seen that boy. Not much shocks this hunk of flubber and will do well in probably any home. However, we are not sure how well he will do with other cats or dogs given that he came in as a stray!

Adopt this seasoned traveler and ask him for yourself about all his adventures! Oh and play a few games of Marco Polo! He’ll really enjoy that!

After I took this picture, we had a plethora of more donations come in! I wish I would have snapped a photo. I called it Mount Donations!

Today was an extremely busy day at the humane society! Our animals were all so happy to see many new faces after only seeing their mundane staff for Christmas! 😂

We want to send a huge thank you to Landmark National Bank and the Rush County community for coming together and donating this huge pile of goodies to our animals!

We also want to thank the families that also stopped by and donated a lot of toys, cat litter, and food! I so wish I would have gotten that picture! If you see this, please know it means the world to us!

We are forever grateful for the surrounding communities who help us help these precious fur orphans!!

If you are a regular guest out to our shelter, you may be thinking,
“Isn’t that their office cat, Percy?”

No, it is not our beloved Percy. This sweet little girl is Misty who happens to look a lot like our Percy!

We have had a lot of people ask us if Percy is adoptable to which we have said, “no siree!”

So if you were one of those wishful people, come meet her younger doppelgänger, Misty!

She is around 6 months old and is very sweet and curious! She will need an adopter who can properly ensure she remains groomed!

If she really is anything like Percy, she may require daily brushing or a trip to the groomer regularly!

What do you call someone who refuses to play by the rules, shows off some mad flying skills, and does things his own way?

A Maverick.

Maverick here is my special boy!
He is a 5 month old Belgian Malinois mix!

He is such a good boy unless he has to stay in his kennel. Then he has some kennel anxiety. Outside of the kennel and on walks, he is amazing! He is so mellow on the leash. He does not pull and listens when you call. He rode so well in the back of my car too. And he’s only 5 months old!

Maverick is going to make an amazing and loyal buddy for someone who is willing to train and socialize him. He did come in underweight and will need someone dedicated to a hearty diet to help him reach a healthy weight.

I have a special place in my heart for this boy and want him to go to the best home who will treat him like the prince he is!

Ludo was brought back to no fault of his own! Unfortunately, the resident animals in the home just couldn’t accept him..

Nala is far too busy to come up from her bakery at the moment..

She has a lot of Holiday Biscuits to prepare and her kitchen is less than adequate…
It would be so wonderful if there was a person who would love to give Nala the space she requires to continue her dream of running her own bakery!

Nala is very sweet and loves to receive head scratches! She’s very talkative and has quite the motor. She also has a tendency to stick her tongue out the tiniest bit and it’s sooo adorable!!
However, Nala prefers to hang out in her cubby, so if you want to meet her, you’ll have to slowly open her bottom door.
You’ll be greeted by the cutest round face and the nonstop dough kneading that is Nala!

🐰🍯Honey Bunny🍯🐰

Honey just marked her 30th day at the shelter a few days ago! That means she’s a new member of the Lonely Hearts Club!

Honey is very curious but a little shy! She’ll talk to you and follows us up and down her condo while we clean it, but when I go to let her, she runs away like a little school girl.

I think once Honey is in a home, she will be more open to human contact! She’s soo pretty to look at and would make a beautiful addition to your home!

Honey Bunny is now discounted in her adoption fee with her membership to the Lonely Hearts Club! So take a chance on her!

💜🌼🐷HELA’S DOGGY DAY OUT🐷🌼💜

It’s been a rather tough two weeks at HSHP. The staff is all working hard and are tired.
But we all can’t help but notice that our poor little Hela is becoming increasingly frustrated…

Hela has been here the longest out of all our animals.. She came in with her two beloved sisters who have long since been adopted.
We feel so bad for little Hela so I got up and went out to grab her and we went on a much needed Doggy Day Out.

Hela was so happy to go through the front doors and load up in the car. When we pulled into the park her happy whines were spilling out of her. She had so much fun being able to get fresh air away from the shelter and some one on one time with a human.
When we loaded back up it tore my heart right in two when she jumped up and looked out the back window at the park as we drove away.. She didn’t want to leave..

Hela is a very sweet girl who is a bit shy when making new friends. Once she gets away from the shelter, she’s a completely different dog. It’s just so hard finding an adopter who believes us.

She gets along with other dogs and has good basic obedience. If you can just take a chance on her and see just how sweet and special this little pig is, you will not be disappointed!

This adorable girl is Paisley!

Paisley first came to HSHP when she was a 6 month old pup!
She was spayed and fully vetted at Colby Community College at their Vet Tech Program!

Now she’s back and is a full grown 1 year old lady!
Paisley is super sweet and mellow for her breed and age!
She is an Australian Shepherd x Australian Cattle Dog mix!
This gorgeous girl LOVES belly rubs and kisses!
She can be a little timid at sudden movements and sounds! But that’s the common for dogs at a shelter!
Paisley is also picky about what dogs she likes and doesn’t like. We would like for any dog siblings in the home to come out and meet her!

Paisley has a precious heart and a sweet temperament! She’s stunning to look at and will make a fantastic addition to your home!

Poor little Libby was so sad when her sister and best friend was adopted on Sunday..

She pawed at the glass as if to say “wait take me too!”

Libby feels like a genie stuck in a bottle.. She wants to get out and just needs someone to rub the glass!

Lib is currently our youngest cat in the room. She is only 6 months old and still very much a kitten! It’s so sad seeing her all alone in her condo with out her sister..

Someone please take this sweet girl home!
