I opened my first store in Deming, NM in Sept. of 2019. It’s a crazy passion. I knit, crochet, weave (several different types of weaving), and I also spin yarn. Married to a USN veteran for nearly 25 years. We live in these gorgeous Appalachian mountains and love it. We have 3 crazy schnauzers girls and 2 black cats to keep us entertained. I have the most wonderful sisterhood of women all over the county, who I love dearly.

BEWARE A NEW SCAM

Totally new scam. Put some yarn on FB Marketplace. Person contacted me and wanted to pay with Zelle, but not the Zelle I have on my bank account. They sent the money to PayPal. Then I started getting emails saying that Zelle would give me the original funds after the shopper deposited another $200 to upgrade my account and gave me instructions on how to refund them their $200. Well I called PayPal and Zelle and it’s a new scam. Please don’t fall for it. And interestingly enough the threatening email they are sending me are disappearing from my email after about 10 minutes. But, this is too funny, they sent me one saying that if I didn’t refund this person’s money within 10 minutes they were going to contact the Australian police and have me arrested for fraud and sent to jail. Woohoo I’m going to Australia.

Well 2024 has been a bit crazy all ready with the flu and a shoulder replacement. But its time to get back on track and resume some normality. The store will be mostly back to normal business hours on Wed-Fri from noon to around 4:30 or so. I am still using PT so Thurs may be around 12:30 since I go to Pikeville. Tomorrow is Thursday, Feb. 15th. I will be open from noon to around 5. And the same for Friday. I will have to let you know about next week since I’m going to have to make time for PT. Depending on how badly they beat me up (!) I may make it into the store. But I’ll post days and times. Stop by tomorrow or Friday and receive 20% off your entire purchase!! Well it’s only been almost 2 weeks since surgery and my fingers are just itchy to pick up some needles and knit. But not yet. So I guess surgery went well but a horrific tape allergy jumped up and i am being plagued with cellulitis. Please send me pictures of what you’re working on so I can knit vicariously through yours. My store will be closed indefinitely. I’ve been sick with the flu (tested and confirmed) since last week. I still am sickly. Next Thursday is tentative for shoulder replacement surgery, but I should be feeling well enough. So it will be closed down until at least the beginning of February. I am so sorry for any inconvenience but I sure don’t want to make anyone sick.

Hey everybody, I hope you had great holidays. Now on to the new year. I’m sure as slow as my store is !!! It will be even slower this month. So beginning Jan 18th I will be closed for that Thursday and Friday and the following 2 weeks. I’m going to keep you updated after that. I’m having a shoulder replaced on the 18th. My right one no less. See you sometime in February. In the meantime let’s do 10% off all purchases until surgery!!!

Two felted hats HOTN over the weekend. I used a white Brown Sheep worsted along with a red raspberry fi*****ng weight to make the red/white one. Interesting finish.

Well I’ve had a productive Monday. Finished up 2 hats and made a cake. And I cleaned up my own mess in the kitchen. Cranberry/orange with pecans and an orange glaze.

The Yarn Emporium!!! Here we are in Deming, New Mexico along I-10. And what a time we are having. I own this store with my son, Jason. He’s the silent partner and lives in Tucson.

I want this store to be just a cool and fun place to be. We will practice the art of conversation here. We want it to be friendly and free of judgment. We will discuss anything, everything and learn to listen to great folks who love the fiber arts. I will do beginning weaving classes in 2 and 4 shaft looms, rigid heddle looms, inkle looms.

We will have sit and knit/crochet/spin/just visit nights on Wednesday from 6-8 and Saturday mornings from 10-12, or any time you just want to join in the fun. Bring your own drink, or I usually have a coffee pot going in the back.

Please come visit us. See the beautiful weaving and fiber art items that are for sale. Beautiful ice-dyed scarfs and shawls. Outstanding and awesome quilts. Handwoven rag rugs and wool rugs.
