This is what we woke up to in Hayward! I hope you all aren't this cold. The horses are doing good in this brutal weather. The oldies get blankets and are doing fine. Lots of hay, and they're going through a lot more when it's this cold. Not too many ice balls on their feet except Nova. Boy I can't pound those off and it doesn't help that she doesn't like holding her feet up! One more day and we'll have some average temps. January is almost over, whew, and looking forward to spring already! Take care everyone and stay watm!

As 2024 leaves us in a few hours, I'm reflecting on a year that was filled with much joy and also unbearable sadness. After losing our beloved Sporty and Smokey, we were feeling pretty low with grief. When you have them for the rest of their life, we know it's inevitable, but still a crushing blow. But we keep going, and are so very thankful for the time we had them in our lives! But that's not the only reason for this post. We also had great joy this past year. All of our family made it home for Christmas and we were fortunate to have gatherings during the year. I'm thankful for good health too! Our season of horseback riding was wonderful too as always, it's so good to see our old friends and make new ones too. If this sounds like a thankful Thanksgiving post well that's OK. We are grateful for the year we had! We're looking forward to 2025 and all the new challenges and experiences that come our way. Our wish to you all and your family, and beloved furry members of your family, is to have a safe, happy and healthy 2025! And old Irish tradition is to open the back door of your house just before midnight to let out the old year, and open the front door just after midnight to let the new year in, I love it!

Another season has come and gone and it's time to say we're closed for the season. It's been great seeing our old friends and making new ones. We sure do appreciate our guests. And of course our amazing herd who takes good care of us! Have a great year and we'll see you in the spring!

I would like to thank everyone for your kind words and for sharing your memories of our boy Sporty. It was a really nice tribute.He sure was a magnificent horse. He's left a lasting legacy as a dependable and loving horse that we could always count on and who never complained. As you all have experienced the loss of a beloved pet, time will heal. Thanks for everything Sporty. 🖤🤍🐎

How do you say so long to one of your best ponies? Today, with the most love and sorrow, we sent Sporty to join his friends over the rainbow bridge. We had the honor of having him for 18 years. Just like the horses before him, this is the last home they will know. Without complaint, he faithfully carried countless guests through the forest for many years. Whether they were adults or small kids, he was the most dependable boy you could ask for. How do I say so long? I tell my ponies I'll see you again my friend. 🐎🐎💙

Ride update: We're open Thursday through Sunday by appointment. Now that we're towards the end if the season, we're just doing the 1/2 hour ride. We stay open as long as the weather holds out. Please call ahead for availability. We specialize in guided forest trail rides, and there's a lot more riding to be done. Fall color is still beautiful, so book your ride now! Horseback riding is the best way to see the forest and it's fun for the whole family!

It sure has been an awesome season! A special thanks to our amazing staff from left to right: Greta, Pete, Jamie in front & hubby Mike! We couldn't have done it without you. And thanks to Sue Duchan and Connie Lepley for trusting us with their horses for the summer, we're truly grateful for them! Here's some fall pictures and they were spectacular. Unfortunately the rain kept us grounded a lot though. And now even though we're not officially closed the weather might have it's say so about that. It's always kinda sad when the season winds down but on the up side I'm already making plans for next year! And as always, a special thank you to our guests that ride with us and friends that come back every year. We appreciate you and hope to see you soon! 😊🐴❤️
