Meet Frida, our newest acupuncture recipient. She was adopted from Armenia where she was hit by a car leaving her unable to use both back legs. But she gets around just fine zipping around with her front legs.
We are working on her anxiety issues and her chronic diarrhea. She did very well for her first time. We started with a calming point to set the tone. We look forward to working with her.

Zeus got the full spa treatment today. The laser is treating a chronic ear infection problem. The acupuncture is helping with his skin and allergies. He has improved with less scaly skin, less itching and an overall better coat. And he got a nail trim so he can sneak around the house better to steal food. 😆

Today was Zeus’s first laser treatment and he was a pro!
Since he is a dachshund with back problems he had treatment for disc disease with the regular laser setting. Also he has horrible allergies and had a treatment with the antibacterial light for his chronic ear infections and on his wrinkly skin.
The treatments were quick and noninvasive and he sat for them like a champ.

Meet Charles he’s a sweet 15 year old terrier with many health problems. He had his first acupuncture appointment this afternoon. We concentrated on mainly pain relief from osteoarthritis, his chronic soft stool, and just overall wellness for his kidney disease.
It’s hard to see the needles in his long hair but they’re there. We didn’t want to tire him out too much so he received minimal needles. Next week he will receive laser treatment.

Zeus’s first acupuncture session. He is being treated for chronic allergies and high liver values. He is already maxed out on Apoquel, Cytopoint, a hydrolyzed protein diet and baths. So we are adding acupuncture to give him relief.
Every acupuncture session is started with a calming point and then tailored to each patient’s specific needs.

Happy birthday to one of our office mascots! Zeus is now a teenager. We had a fun party in the clinic for him, but the other mascot Charlie is still recovering from all the treats 😂

Don’t think your pet will sit still for acupuncture? We have laser therapy too! It’s great for healing skin wounds, treating ear and skin infections, and using on the acupuncture trigger points instead of needles. It’s a great alternative or just a great addition to the treatment plan.

It's going to be hot in the Northwoods!

Please, be sure your pets have plenty of water and shelter and shade when outside. Better yet, keep them inside if you can.

NEVER LEAVE A PET INSIDE A VEHICLE
Your pet is much safer at home than your car. Temperatures rise quickly and parking in the shade and cracking the windows does not help.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF HEAT STROKE IN DOGS?
Clinical signs of heat stroke in dogs include:

** Collapse, labored breathing or excessive panting
** Dull mentation
** Vomiting or diarrhea (either of which may be bloody)
** Signs of bleeding, such as bruising on the skin or gums

We've had a lot of questions about the vaccine clinic this year - unfortunately we are postponing this year's clinic for a little while. With the rise in COVID cases, and the uncertainty of new variants, we are waiting for warmer weather so we can hold the clinic outdoors. We are hoping to have the vaccine clinic sometime in March/April and will keep everyone posted!

I just want to take a moment and thank all my wonderful clients who have had to reschedule over the past few days. Charlie, my 13 year old wasn’t feeling well and it turns out he had a large mass in his abdomen that was bleeding. I rushed him to an emergency clinic where he’s been since Thursday. He had the mass removed and we are waiting for the results.
I also want to thank my amazing employees Nicole Carley and Shawn Wnuk. They did an awesome job holding the clinic together while I was gone.
