Officials with the Harrison County Animal Shelter confirmed that Chesney Taylor and Christian CJ Barnett were arrested on Saturday morning and have been charged with falsely reporting an incident.

❄️ EXTREME WEATHER WARNING! ❄️

Please bring your pets inside. A heated spot in a barn or garage. A laundry room or bathroom. With frigid temperatures an ingloo and straw will not be enough to stop them from freezing.

Please help your dog stay warm and alive during the coldest temps we've experienced this winter. πŸ’™πŸΎπŸ™πŸ»

Before and during the holiday season, Heather Isaacs and the team at Lifstyl Real Estate set up a donation box at 145 Roadhouse. They accepted donations from those who were able to give and dropped everything off just before Christmas.

Thank you to Heather, the team, everyone at 145 and everyone who donated. We are forever grateful. πŸ’™πŸ™πŸ»πŸΎ

Please share and help create awareness!

On this stormy winter day, we wanted to share some very valuable information.

Last year, in 2024, we had over 550 dogs and puppies come through the shelter that we cared for. 550. All from Wolfe County, all dogs and puppies were found or brought in as strays, or surrendered. This is a astronomical number considering we have 12 kennels, a couple puppy rooms and quarantine rooms.

We have 3 paid employees. This includes our Director, ACO, and 5-6 volunteers. This means everyone helps around the clock. Early mornings, late nights, weekends. Nobody has "time off".

We are a non-profit, this means we run off of donations. All dog food, puppy food, cleaning supplies etc. are made available to us because of amazing supporters we have.

If you are ever able to help us, please consider volunteering or donating if you can.

And more importantly, PLEASE spay and neuter your pets. While we don't take cats, there is a large influx of cats and kittens, including ones being dumped on people's property.

We appreciate all the support and hope to decrease the number of dogs we bring in this year.

Thank you all. Stay warm and safe, and keep your fur babies warm too! πŸΎπŸ’™πŸ™πŸ»

πŸ₯Ά ❄️ WINTER IS HERE!!! ❄️ πŸ₯Ά

WE ARE FACING SINGLE DIGIT LOWS IN THE COMING DAYS. NOW is the time to prepare and make plans to protect your pets.

Chained, caged and confined animals are most susceptible to cold temperatures.

🐾 Be sure your pet has a dry, warm place to get in out of the weather. In extreme temperatures it would be recommended to bring pets indoors, into a home or even just a barn or garage where they have a windbreak and a doghouse with bedding inside for warmth.

🐾 Your pet must have access to a sturdy shelter (roof, 4 walls and a floor) and that shelter must have organic bedding (straw) not towels or blankets. If your pet is in any non-heated area like a garage or barn they still need access to shelter such as a doghouse to keep their body heat contained.

🐾 Be sure that the area your pet is housed is dry and free from standing water. A layer of straw should be spread to cover muddy spots. Being wet can cause frostbite or hypothermia.

🐾 While outdoors be sure that your pet can move around freely to generate body heat.

🐾 Stack flakes or bales of straw around your pet’s shelter to create insulation.

🐾 Be sure that the shelter is placed in the best area to block wind and weather with the opening facing away from the wind. Being placed on a certain side of a structure and right against the structure can be helpful.

🐾 If your pet has an enclosure, use tarps and straw to create windbreaks. Tightly stretch and zip-tie tarps around chain link kennels to create a barrier from wind and precipitation.

🐾 Provide constant access to fresh, unfrozen water and plenty of quality food.

If we receive a complaint from someone else and find your pets without the needed resources you may be criminally charged with animal neglect. Take action and take care of your pets.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Happy Hanukkah to all! If you celebrate, we wish you the best time with family and friends. πŸŽ„

Thank you to everyone who has supported us, and continues to support our small shelter. With just 12 kennels and 2 puppy rooms, we always have a full house and a waiting list. It's nonstop all hours of the day and we couldn't be here without our volunteers, the support from our followers and our community.

We hope you have a wonderful holiday and new year!
