🌿 **An Important Update from Wild Wings Bird Rehabilitation** 🌿
Dear Friends and Supporters,
For over a decade, Wild Wings Bird Rehab has been dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating injured and orphaned wild birds, giving countless feathered friends a second chance at life. This mission has been at the heart of everything we do, and it has been an incredible journey alongside a community as passionate and dedicated as ours. ❤️
After much reflection and discussion, our team and board have made the difficult decision to **pause operations for the 2025 season**. This "gap year" will allow us to **regroup, refresh, and ensure a stronger future for Wild Wings**. Our work has always required immense time, energy, and resources, and this pause gives us the chance to care for ourselves, our families, and our resident birds after years of nonstop dedication.
Additionally, with the continued risk of **Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI)**, we must prioritize the health and safety of our volunteers, staff, and the birds in our care. The risk of transmission remains too high for us to safely operate at full capacity.
For 2025, **we will only be accepting pigeons on a case-by-case basis through our sister organization, Louie’s Loft**. If you find a pigeon in need of help, please reach out, and we will assess the situation accordingly. Unfortunately, we **cannot** accept any other wild birds at this time.
This pause is not an ending—it is an opportunity. A chance to **rest, learn, and reorganize so that we can continue our mission more sustainably**. While stepping away is bittersweet, we are choosing to see this as a positive step forward.
Wild Wings would not be what it is today without you—our incredible supporters and volunteers. We are deeply grateful for your continued belief in our mission. Thank you for standing with us, and we look forward to reconnecting when the time is right.

Would any of our Wild Wings Supporters be able to help us with much needed Louie's Loft Support?
We currently have 38 permanent outdoor residents, 8 indoor residents, 2 hatchlings, 4 young adults and and 1 adult in rescue.
We need to get a hole fixed in out loft, fix our outdoor electrical so we can get heated water bowls, and we go through around 200 pounds of food a month.
If anyone can spare any amount of money, or services please reach out. Thank you.

(**UPDATED** Lots of questions on how/where to donate. Let me clear up the confusion. Wild Wings "owns" Louie's Loft . When I started LL there wasnt enough support or birds coming in to go through the entire non profit process, however LL has grown really big in the last couple years. Right now LL is a "doing business as" business name for wild wings. This means that things marked louie'es loft, and money sent to LL all go into the umbrella account of Wild Wings. Because Wild Wings is closed until at least 2026 all money coming in for the year will be for LL as I will be keeping the pigeon rescue open. If in the future WW closes, LL will be able to "take over" the business. Hope this helps! **🌟 It’s Giving Tuesday! 🌟**
Even though Wild Wings Bird Rehab is on hiatus, *Louie’s Loft Pigeon Rescue* is still hard at work caring for its incredible flock of about **50 permanent pigeon residents**. These resilient birds rely on us year-round, but the winter months bring added challenges.
Keeping the loft warm and safe means using **electricity for heating and heated water bowls**, ensuring the birds stay cozy and hydrated even as temperatures drop. On top of that, our pigeons go through **50 pounds of food a week** during the cold season to maintain their strength and health.
Your support on this Giving Tuesday can help us cover these essential costs. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference in ensuring Louie’s Loft remains a sanctuary for these beautiful birds.

Dear Friends and Supporters,

For over a decade, Wild Wings Bird Rehab has been devoted to caring for injured and orphaned wild birds, helping countless feathered friends find their way back to the wild. This mission has always been close to our hearts, and it’s been a joy to work with a community as passionate and dedicated as ours. ❤️

After much reflection and heartfelt discussion, we, as a team and board, have decided to take a “gap year” to regroup, refresh, and prepare for an even stronger future. This decision comes from a place of love and respect for our work, volunteers, and supporters. Personally, this time also gives me a chance to focus on other aspects of life, including my family, after countless summers, weekends, and hours dedicated to our cause.

**🕊️ Important Announcement from Louie's Loft 🕊️**

We want to thank you for your continued support and love for Louie’s Loft and the pigeons we care for. Your kindness and dedication have allowed us to provide a safe haven for so many pigeons in need.

At this time, we want to share an important update: Louie’s Loft is currently unable to accept any new permanent residents. Our resources are focused on providing the best care possible for the pigeons already in our loft and ensuring they have the quality of life they deserve.

However, we are still open for pigeons who need rehabilitation or are looking for a second chance at life through adoption into loving homes or lofts. If you come across a pigeon in need, please reach out to us, and we will do our best to provide them with the care, support, and transition they need.

📢 Attention Wild Wings Bird Rehab Community! 📢

We wanted to share an important update with you all regarding our operations for the upcoming 2024 season.

Due to the emergence of highly pathogenic avian flu, the safety and well-being of our staff, volunteers, and resident birds remain our top priority. After careful consideration and consultation with experts, we've made the difficult decision to temporarily suspend the acceptance of sick or injured adult birds (excluding pigeons) for this season.

ONLY BABY SONGBIRDS AND BABY/ADULT PIGEONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

While it pains us to enact such measures, we believe it's crucial to mitigate the risk of potential transmission within our facility. By taking proactive steps now, we aim to safeguard the health of our entire community and continue providing the best care possible for our feathered friends.

Rest assured, our commitment to avian welfare remains unwavering. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and adapt our protocols accordingly. In the meantime, we encourage everyone to remain vigilant and prioritize the health and safety of birds everywhere.
