The shelter has taken in 4 corgipoo puppies from a family that reached out for help. We are happy to report that they are all eating canned food well and are starting to transition to dry puppy food. Although they are still not ready to go to the adoption floor, we hope by this weekend or early next week they will be ready to be moved out of isolation. They have had their shot series started, worming and revolution puppy. Robin and Winnie are females and Pooh and Christopher are males. All 4 puppies are very friendly and social. Mom was about 13 pounds and we expect these puppies to be around that size.

The shelter had one of our favorite visitors this morning. Riley and his family stopped by to bring donations, which they do on a regular basis. We appreciate the financial support and other items, especially the canned cat food which is a constant need at the shelter. Thank you for continuing to support the Shelter.

Adam and Ben came into the shelter a couple of weeks ago. Although mom was tame, they were born under a deck and had not been handled when they came to the shelter. These little guys are deciding being petted and loved on is not that bad. Adam has a very loud motor.

Today the shelter reached a milestone. Since starting our TNR program in May of 2021 we have officially spayed and neutered over 400 farm and community cats with this program. While the problem of overpopulation is not a quick fix, we are doing what we can to help the problem. Data shows one unspayed female will lead to over 10,000 addition cats in 4 years. No shelter can handle that kitten load, that is why TNR is a priority for our shelter to help our counties we serve. Thanks to everyone who has participated

07/17/2024

The Shelter knows with the rash of recent layoffs that have occurred and upcoming in the area, things can get tight. We want to be able to help to keep families, including the four-legged members together. If you're needing a little help to get through over the next few weeks, please feel free to reach out to the shelter for animal food items in our food pantry. We are happy to help with any items we have available for that purpose.

Guess who got a new pool today? Boomer, of course, so he can enjoy time outside during the warm weather with his family. So happy to see him living the life he deserves.
Also, we love it when people Pay It Forward. Boomers adoption fee had been paid by a generous donor right after he was dumped at the shelter. His new family decided to Pay It Forward and donate the adoption fee for another pet . Thanks to everyone.

07/08/2024

After being dumped in the woods by the shelter on a cold and wet day, Boomer spent 95 days waiting for a forever family. During that time he captured the hearts of everyone associated with the Shelter and he became known as the perfect dog. It was one of those cases we just could not understand why the right family had not come for him. Along the way, we did receive many applications some that did not meet requirements and others that for a variety of reasons were not a good fit.

Boomer waited patiently, and the shelter staff did their best to keep his spirits up and be his family while he was there. We also tried to be very patient, because we knew that his family was somewhere. We are excited to announce that this weekend, following being preapproved, Boomer's family came. He packed his favorite toys from the Shelter and took them to his new home to start a new life. We will miss him, but we know he's in a fantastic place and has already begun to settle in. He is the only pet in the family with three human family members to love him, along with a big backyard and the perfect size fence. We are looking forward to tons of pictures and a happily ever after. It was worth the wait.

Boomer has learned a new trick. After he retrieves his ball, he brings it back and sets it on the chair to be thrown again. This boy is so smart. Please continue to share so he can find the great home he deserves. In the meantime he will continue to chill on his bed in the air conditioning watching TV.

It was a great day for kind donations at the shelter. A huge thank you to Kristy Rigdon for the multiple boxes of can cat food that came through an Amazon delivery from our wishlist . The cats were excited as were as the people.

Later in the morning Quinn Leaman stopped and brought a huge bag of dog food that we can always use. Thank you Quinn for helping the Shelter animals.

To end the morning, Deb DeGroot brought in variety of supplies, including paper towels and various cleaning supplies. These are all highly used items that we greatly appreciate.

We know how fortunate we are to have such a supportive community. We are able to continue to find animals forever homes because of your kindness and generosity. Thank you again.
