Sawyer's Dental
Meet Sawyer and his mom (also a beloved vet tech here at MBVH), Amber.
Spring is on its way and that means it’s time for our March Discount Dental Clinics. Sawyer is a 5 year old chihuahua who just had his first dental. He had bad breath but no other obvious symptoms of dental problems. At his dental we found that he had severe periodontal disease (tartar and gingivitis) and had 12 infected teeth causing discomfort. He had no way to tell us about this!!! His disease was treated and his mom reports that he acts like he is 4 years younger. His mom says his energy and attitude and excitement about eating has improved significantly. He also likes to be snuggled more now. He is a good example of how dental care can improve quality of life, even if you don’t know that it is being compromised! Please call if you would like to schedule a dental cleaning and exam with us.
Healthy teeth and gums help protect the quality of life of our pets. Pets with chronic dental disease not only live with discomfort, they have a challenged immune system and are more prone to heart, kidney, and liver disease. Due to high bacterial counts in their mouths, the bacteria can be shed in their blood and affect their organs.
For senior pets, we now use a modified anesthetic protocol that is easier and safer for their older bodies to process. They have smoother recovery after their procedure as well as when they go home.
If we have recommended a dental on your pet and you have any questions about the procedure before scheduling it, please let us know. You can go to our website memorialbeachvet.com and look at our dental form for more details.
