Meet Remy!
Remy is an almost 6 year old GSD. We rescued him in 2021. This sweet boy was put through protection training at a year old, but hadn’t been worked with at all afterwards. He hadn’t even been to the vet since he was a year old; he was kept outside in a 6x6 pen every day for months, so he didn’t get the physical or mental exercise he needed.
He is probably the most stubborn dog I’ve ever met. 😂 He has always done well with “sit”, but up until recently wouldn’t even lay down for us (though he knew the command). He struggles with high anxiety when in his kennel, likely due to him being kept in the pen for such long periods of time.
Well, we progressed over the last few months learning “down”, “easy”, and a few other basic commands. We are only on day 2 of learning “stay”, as we needed to build the proper foundation for him first, including the best method for his training. He is a sucker for some tasty treats, so I decided to treat-train him. You can see that a piece of meat even falls out of my hand and he doesn’t attempt to go for it. His progress is exceptional for being almost 6 years old and only on day 2 of learning this command, even though it’s such a short period of wait time. I am so proud of him! It may not seem like much to the outside eye but for Remy, each of his advancing steps are a huge accomplishment and blessing. Let me do this for your fur babies too! ❤️
(P.S. If you’re curious, my son was outside with me for awhile today while I was training, which is why there’s a playpen. 😂)
