Jones thought he was a tough cookie weighing in at 6lbs and was less than impressed that Dr. DeLeon still performed his neuter surgery. He did great for surgery and is back home with mom recovering well.

Last week the staff gathered to say goodbye to our beloved Mama kitty. Mama was dropped off outside of our hospital nearly 20 years ago in a box with her 3 babies. The kittens were adopted out, but Mama stayed as a hospital cat. She was the sweetest and kindest cat. Unlike Daryl, Mama was always very shy so did not like to venture out into the lobby very much. She could be found snuggled in a comfy bed under the reception desk or in Robbin’s lap. She loved to be held and was very tolerant of all of the costumes we put her in over the years! We loved her and miss her so much and our hospital is not the same without her. Rest in Peace Mama kitty 💕
Dr. Mordasky and Daryl are here to announce our new “Spring into Summer” fitness challenge for your pets! Like a lot of us, Daryl gained a little weight during Covid. He’s ready to get into shape this summer and is looking for some support from his furry friends. This will be a 12 week challenge with weekly updates from Daryl and monthly videos focused on educating you on healthy ways to introduce exercise, evaluating your pets diet, and more! In this month’s video, Dr. Mordasky discusses how to evaluate your pet’s body condition score and how to use that information to determine if/how much weight they need to lose.
If you are interested in signing your pet up for this challenge please send us a message with your name, your pets name, and their current weight!

In this video Dr M is debriding an indolent corneal ulcer on Annie and placing a contact lens.
Indolent ulcers are ulcers that do not heal in a normal way within a normal time frame.
First Dr M is debriding the ulcer or taking away the unattached epithelial cells with a dry sterile cotton swab.
Next, (not shown), she takes the tip of a sterile needle and places small groves or lines along the surface of the eye. This creates a roughened surface for new epithelial cells to attach and heal over.
Finally she places a contact lens over the eye that acts like a bandage to facilitate healing, protect the eye and provide comfort during the healing process. The contact lens is permeable so any medicine will still get to the eye. Dr M will remove the lens at Annie’s recheck appointment in 3 days and depending on how well the eye is healing may replace it with another lens.
Latte, a 2 year old border collie, came in to check for puppies. Can you see the heartbeat 💓 and the umbilical cord above the puppy.
