As always Desiree Moffett captures some amazing shots of Opal. Lots of practice going on right now as we prep for some of the few trials we'll be able to make this year. Learning to trust and listen to each other, be a solid team has been our biggest hurtle. Can't wait for the pride, and joy I'm feeling in us to show out in the field.
Little miss Opal has gotten very good at being a tattle tale! So good in fact that she wanted me to let everyone know just how upset she was for wearing this coat for Birthday picture!

The Green River Pack is a little bit odd.
We have miss GW Kimber who started the BC love affair.
Miss Ann the hubbies Black Lab Griffon cross.
Miss Opal our darling girl.
And then Miss Winter who is a odd child out of Ann and a Shepherd mutt of my mother's.
We don't get the whole pack out half as much as we should, but today proved to be a perfect day for it!

We are happy to say Opal is now fully tested!
For everyone waiting for those Opal puppies during Christmas/New years, we have picked the stud. But Opal threw us a curve ball and decided to switch up her cycles, since we do not have OFAs done on her yet, and we are right in the middle of our trial season she is not being bred this month. If she sticks with the new projection we are looking at a January 2024 cycle/breeding which means April puppies.
OFAs will be completed next month.

Here is a fun little fact for everyone.
When you are looking at dogs, and bloodlines for breeding you are not just looking at the dogs themselves. You also need to look at the parents of the two dogs and the grandparents. Often times you are going to see traits, work style, and bite in the puppies from your desired pairing that just do not match with the parents.
Take my Opal for example, she looks, and acts a lot like her Maternal grandfather who is MISR Joaquin, now she does have little traits all over the place that are a reflection of her maternal side. We have had the blessing of knowing the dogs on that side of her all the way back to the GGparents.
A lot of the notice we received on her during the ASCA trial on mothers day was because people saw that in her.
Okay so just a PSA for right now.
No I do not have pups available what I have is a open waitlist currently for the winter litter out of Opal and a outstanding stud.
Well 4 runs, 2 cattle, 2 sheep.
1st cattle I called for a few different reasons but Opal was a champ, she received a compliment "That's a nice dog"
1st sheep was very much as I saw it a wee thing for her, crazy wide out run. But we took 1st place.
2nd cattle we completed the course, I felt we barely qualified if anything. We took 1st place.
2nd sheep was less wee, a little trouble getting them out of the pen, but not as bad on that wild wide out run. The issue for us was I forgot to drop her leash, which cost us points. We took 2nd place.
Through all this it was that's a nice dog, or she is a nice dog. I'm worried about our runs and I did not feel we did that good.
The judges remarks during awards "let me tell you about this dog, she covers for her handler a lot, this is a very nice dog".
I give massive thanks to Desiree Moffett with Go West. 1 for entrusting me with Kimber who started all this and is the amazing Dam to our Opal, and 2 for getting that initial training on Opal! At 2 years old she is covering for her stage fright, confused, and obviously slow handler. I like to think the awesomeness Desiree is working towards in her program very much shows, and really showed today.
Desiree will be out with her in three weeks, hopefully to finish up what we started today.

GR CPT Marvel, the sweet little girl. She is just a sweet little girl, not sure where she gets it from, but we all do see great grandpa's tongue.
GW Kimber is happy just enjoying her toys these days.
I guess the birthday hat was not a big hit with her, but it made for good bloopers!
Well Opal (GR Ophelia), got sheep, and embarrassing photos for her birthday.
She is asking when on earth this Holiday crazy is over so she can start competing again.
We are also training a new photographer! Our girl received her first camera for Christmas and decided that learning on Border collies was just the right challenge.
We placed 5th out of 15 dogs, earning us out first MSSA points.
Yes I went and did the shoulda woulda coulda. Because we were so so close.
But just to even be on the board is so amazing!
