🍝🐾 Meet Bumper—Our 2025 Spayghetti Mascot! 🐾🍝

Every year, we auction off the honor of being our Spayghetti Dinner Mascot, and this year’s mascot is none other than LCHS Alum, Bumper!

Bumper came to us from a hoarding case as part of what we lovingly called “The Bakery Bunch”—a group of cats named after pies. Back then, he was known as Strawberry Rhubarb, and if you met him, you know that he is the snuggliest, sweetest boy you could ever hope to meet.

Bumper’s Greatest Hits:
💙 World-Class Headbutter—If you walked past his kennel without giving him scratches, he’d give you a little “Meow” to remind you to say hi!
💙 Loves ALL People—The kind of cat who once he warms up, becomes your best friend.
💙 Snuggle Champion—Head scratches, kisses, and lap time are his love language.

While Strawberry (aka Bumper) waited two whole months for his perfect family, his patience paid off. Now, he’s his dad’s best friend in the whole world and living his absolute best life. ❤️

Remember Rudy? The dog who was found starving and alone, just trying to survive? Well, buckle up and grab your tissues, because his story just got the ending he always deserved.

Rudy has a home. He has a family. And he has a mom who loves him beyond words.

When Rudy’s new mom saw him, she just knew—he was her dog. There was just one problem: her current housing situation wouldn’t allow her to bring him home. But instead of giving up, she did something incredible—she moved to a new home just so she could adopt him.

While she got everything sorted, our amazing friends at Home2 Suites by Hilton Helena stepped in, giving her and Rudy a place to stay for three days. They didn’t just offer a roof over their heads—they treated them like rockstars, showering Rudy and his mom with love and support.

Now, Rudy is finally home. He’s putting on weight, learning how to be a dog again, and showing his mom just how smart, snuggly, and eager to please he really is. He LOVES his bed. He’s obsessed with his toys. And most of all, he’s safe, happy, and loved.

A huge shoutout to our friends at Dee-O-Gee Helena, MT for helping Rudy and his new mom get set up with treats, food, and everything he needed to start this next chapter. It really does take a village, and we’re beyond grateful for ours.

Rudy’s journey wasn’t easy, but it led him exactly where he was meant to be. And we couldn't be happier for him.

Hi guys, my name is Nutella and I'm a cute little Sharpei X looking for my forever home!

I'm cute as cute can be, but I think I get passed over a lot. When people walk by, I get so nervous since I don't know them, and so sometimes I growl. I actually did that a lot when I first got here. But then the staff started sitting outside of my kennel, talking calm, and tossing me a treats. I learned they were safe, and I started to warm up.

Now I love pets and I'm even trying my paw at this thing called "snuggling!" I love to go for walks with my staff friends, and every day is a new opportunity to learn something. I really, really want to go home with my new family soon!

But like I said I have a problem, I get so nervous when people walk past my kennel and I just start growling. I'm not trying to seem mean, I just get so scared. I'm hoping I can find someone who is willing to look past my nervousness, and take a chance on me! Once I get comfortable I'm a whole new girl, and I want to be yours.

My staff doesn't have a whole lot of info about my past (and I haven't actually mastered talking yet...) but they can tell you all about the process of safely introducing me to cats and other dogs.

Phoenix grew up in the shelter, not because of anything she did wrong, but because she was caught in the middle of a court case. She grew up here, waiting for a chance at a real home. When that chance finally came, we thought her shelter days were behind her.

But now, through no fault of her own, she’s back.

Phoenix is a special girl. She’s lived with cats and done well, and while she can be picky about her dog friends, what she truly loves is being the center of attention. She deserves that—she deserves a home where she’s not just another kennel number, but a beloved family member.

Meet Kitt!

Kitt is a 7 year old kitten at heart! This guy loves to play with his toys, nibble on some snacks, and whispered sweet nothing in his tiny ears! He’s not much of a fan of being picked up, but he’s ready to plop himself down right in your lap! A chilled out home would be best for this guy, with some older kids (10 yrs+) that can play the days away with him! This year is just getting started, and already we’ve opened our doors to nearly 60 animals—each with their own story, their own struggles. Today, we need to tell you about two who are facing extraordinary challenges:

🐾 Blazey
At just 7 months old, Blazey’s life should be full of zoomies, belly rubs, and carefree snuggles. Instead, this sweet, trusting puppy came to us with a badly broken back leg—a trauma from her previous home. The damage is beyond repair, and the only way to ease her pain is to remove her leg. It’s heartbreaking, but she’s already showing us how resilient she is, meeting everyone with wagging tails and snuggles.

🐾 Fancy
Fancy is a gentle, five-year-old cat who’s been silently suffering. His mouth is so inflamed and infected that even eating—something every animal should enjoy—is agonizing. He’ll need extensive dental surgery to remove most, if not all, of his teeth to stop the infection and give him a chance to live without constant pain. Despite all this, he still loves pets and snuggles whenever he sees his human friends. We have reason to believe that life hasn't been very kind to Fancy and we need your help to change his trajectory.

The cost to help both Blazey and Fancy, including surgeries and aftercare, will be around $2,500. With two major medical cases kicking off 2025 - we're humbly asking for your support.

These animals didn’t ask for the lives they’ve been dealt. But now, they’re here, and we have the chance to rewrite their stories—with your help.

🆘 We’re Out of Towels! 🆘

With so many dogs in our care right now, we’re going through towels faster than ever—and now, we’re completely out.

Towels are an absolute essential here at the shelter. We use them for everything: drying off dogs after baths, lining kennels to keep them cozy, cleaning up endless messes, and giving our animals a little extra comfort while they wait for their forever homes.

If you have any gently used or new towels, we’d be so grateful for your help! You can drop them off during our open hours and know that they’ll go straight to helping animals in need.

You can drop them off any time during business hours. Every towel makes a difference—and with so many dogs right now, we need all the help we can get!

It’s been a busy start to the year. In the last 10 days, we’ve taken in over 42 animals. Most being dogs. We took in 9 dogs yesterday from one home. These were loving, well-intentioned people who became overwhelmed and turned to us for help. And that’s what we’re here for—to be a safety net for animals and their people in times of need.

But now, we really need adopters!

We are at capacity for dogs, which means we are currently having to turn away requests for help. If you’ve been thinking about adopting, now’s the time. We have dogs of every shape, size, age, and personality waiting for their forever homes. Whether you’re looking for a hiking buddy, a cuddle bug, or a goofy playmate, we’ve got someone here who’s perfect for you.
